Show 600 TO STUDY ANCIENT GAME; RANGE NEEDED New Archery Equipment Is Obtained and Practice Will Start Soon OGDEN HIGH SCHOOL NOTES Constance Ford, Editor. Over six hundred girls will participate in archery at the Og- den High school as soon as a range is obtained, Helena Case, i physical education advisor, said i today. The equipment from last year has been repaired and painted and new pieces have been added. Two new target laces, five new bows, over one hundred arrows, two stands, and two padded backs are among the equipment. -Rosella Larkin. CADETS TAKE EXAMS Hideo Iwamoto, ROTC bugler last year, has been named cadet first lieutenant of the staff. Seniors, desirous of obtaining an officership, have been taking examinations in the East building.-Stomo Ochi. The Ogden High school band will make its first appearance of the year at the West-Ogden football game. Due to lack of uniforms and because many band members worked last Saturday, the band was unable to be at the game with East High school.-'Gordon I Cole. The Pep club was to drill at the game today between West and Ogden. Fifth period physiology class had its first monthly play day today. Badminton and other games were played. The second period class forfeited its play day for bad behavior.-Jeanne Johnson. PART OF STAFF NAMED Part of the Classicum staff was appointed Wednesday. ART STUDENTS ASKED TO TRY FOR STAFF JOB Annual's Workers Will Be Selected At Ogden High School OGDEN HIGH SCHOOL NOTES Constance Ford, Editor. Le Conte Stewart, Ogden High school art supervisor, today announced he will select the yearbook art staff within a few weeks. He asked interested students to submit examples of their work as soon as possible. Sketches should be done in the mediums of pencil, wash, and pen and ink and should be accompanied by examples of lettering, Stewart said.-Kathryn Ellsworth. BOUQUETS WILL BE DISTRIBUTED Will Be Handed to Boys Attending Association Party Friday OGDEN HIGH SCHOOL NEWS NOTES Constance Ford, Editor Ogden high school Girls' association is providing small boutonnieres for all boys attending the Accolade. AMUSES SOCIETY , Joe Cook, Brigham City magician, who appeared last night at the bi-monthly meeting of the Fine Arts society, declared that performing tricks is his hobby. He won first place in a hat loading contest held in Oakland, Cal. -Stomo Ochi. The annual formal Cadet hop is scheduled for Feb. 18 at nine o'clock p.m. in the White City ballroom. The crack comapny of the battalion will present an exhibition of arms. - Barbara Reeve. CONTESTS BEGUN Ogden high school bowlers have started games with East high school. The first game came out with Alan Bader as high man for Ogden with a score of 187. The final score was Ogden, 2080 and East 2244. O. H. S. bowlers are Ray Stewart, Alan Bader, Rex Firth, ! Sherman Franch and Arnold Roe. A girls' team will play East I high girls two weeks from this | Saturday at the Ogden alleys.- Arnold Roe. PEP ASSEMBLY There will be a pep assembly Friday in the gymnasium, at ! eight-forty. Students are requested to be prompt. First aid is being taken up in the R.O.T.C. ranks. Speakers ; will talk to the companies in the near future. ADOPT DOCUMENT Miss Mary Woolley's fourth period dramatics have adopted a constitution framed by Ida Rose Langford, Dick West and Gordon Cole. The purpose of the constitution is to govern all activities of their organization. It contains laws which permit a gay and enjoyable year ahead for the young stars.- Gordon Cole. O. T. C. rifle team. The tryouts, conducted in the range every night, are under direction of Cadet Second Lieutenants Eber Piers and Gordon Hug- gins. "Rifle contests are scheduled with East and South high teams late this month," said Piers.- George Jensen. FOR CADET HOP The annual formal Cadet Hop will be held Friday, Feb. 18, at nine o'clock in the White City ballroom. The crack company of the battalion will present an exhibition drill.-Stomo Ochi. Friday has been set as the deadline for students who have not had their pictures taken for the year book. This includes both juniors and seniors.-Kathryn Ellsworth. IN GYM CLASSES All girls' gym classes are being instructed in the technique of basketball in accordance with the new rules. Tournament games will be started soon and the best players in the school placed on a team. REVIEW OFFERED The Bailey review, under direction of Dan Bailey, was presented at the Fine Arts society meeting Wednesday. Participating in the vaudeville were: LaPriel Mathias, Nedra Silverthorn, Lottie Lund, Jack Larson, Aileen Reynolds, Grant Neuteboom, Blair Evans, Mickey Whiteny, Glen Milligan and others. The next meeting will be held Jan. 12 at eight o'clock with Joe Cook, magician from Brigham City, as a guest.-Kathryn Ellsworth. Harold Armstrong is replacing Mrs. Lloyd Nielson in study hall and English. Armstrong is formerly of the Lewis junior high school.-Gordon Cole. BAND SELECTION The assembly Friday morning was opened by a selection from the band directed by Glenn L. Hanson. A skit was given by Dan Bailey. A skit advertising the "big sisters" party was presented next. Hanson then taught one of the new school songs to the student bodv.-Margaret Hocking. DRIVE CAREFULLY Architect Leslie S. Hodgson asks that all students drive carefully and slowly on the school grounds. Fast driving scatters gravel and is dangerous. The gravel must be allowed to settle where it is.- Gordon Cole. PHOTOS WILL TELL HISTORY OF OGDEN HIGH Camera Club Prepares to Preserve Annals In Pictures OGDEN HIGH SCHOOL NEWS NOTES Constance Ford, Editor "The Ogden High Camera club will commence the making of a photographic history of the school immediately," announced club president, Dick Thomas, at a meeting Thursday evening. "The purpose of this history of the school is to preserve our lingering memories of students, teachers, buildings and landscapes about the school. Various types of pictures will be printed for the school history," said Thomas.-George Jensen. AT MOUND FORT Students from Ogden high entertained at Mound Fort school today. The program consisted of a cornet trio by Paul Cawley, Don Prout, and Desmond Norton; a duet by Hendrina Evert- sen and Rex Firth; and a quartet composed of Hendrina Evertsen, Joyce Wilson, Mack Cook, and Eugene Brough. A talk on geology by Gordon Croft I concluded the program.-Virginia Fotis. A pep assembly held in the boys' gymnasium today featur- j ed a bagpipe player, Robert Marshall. The boys of the A and B basketball team were introduced to the student body by the coaches.-Virginia Fotis. CLASS ORGANIZED Zelta Ballinger's sixth period class has been organized as follows: Mickey Whitney, president, Grant Neuteboom, vicoj president, and Helen Brown,' secretary. The English class j will have five-minute talks every two weeks and these officers will take charge.-Margaret Hocking. A pep rally was held in the: boys' gym today immediately: after school. A dance was heldj first. Hosts and hostesses were j in charge to see that everyone has a good time. The rally was for the game to be played tonight with South High in Salt Lake City-Virginia Fotis.
