Show Second floor rotunda The second floor rotunda is much less detailed than that of the main floor. The medallion is continued in the floor tile, and concrete sunbursts decorate the ceiling, but fancy archways are eliminated. Here the wall painting on plaster is not original, having been added when the library was renovated and follows the motifs which line the walls there. Just inside the library doors hang three beautiful light fixtures. They and the checkout desk also originate from 1937. The low walnut bookshelves are original equipment, but the eight-foot shelves in the north end were built by Universal Studios when they filmed a scene from THREE O'CLOCK HIGH here, then donated them to the school. |
