Show October 28, 1987 Dear Helena and Jean . . . Do you have any idea how delighted I was to see you and visit with you while we were in Ogden. You are still the same sweet people I remember from school days. Your eyes sparkle just like they used to, dear Mrs. Case, when I first learned to love you as my gym teachers. It is difficult to realize that was 50 year ago! How the years go by - so many changes in our lives, some good, some bad. But I guess that is what life is all about. We went down to the museum at the Ogden Depot after we had lunch. Our friends went with us - and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing. The train layout is fabulous and so fascinating. Ervin is such a train buff anyway. He belongs to a model railroad club down here and just finished up a two- year stint as president. They are getting ready right now for their semi-annual big Open House. AND - your rock collection is just superb! How we enjoyed seeing all those beautiful stones, so carefully polished and displayed to perfection! I have always loved rocks. We have been picking up small ones the last many years, wherever, we go, and labeling them. I now have a big bowl filled full that represents many places - most of the states, and some special far-away places as well. Sand from the Sea of Galilee, from Egypt, from the Black Sands of Hawaii and the White Sands of New Mexico. I've always thought it would be fun to polish rocks, but we've never seemed to find time for that. When I visited with you, I asked if you'd seen the souvenir booklet we did for our 40th Reunion at Ogden High. My daughter Becky and I put it together. I wrote most of it and we did the typesetting and Becky did the graphics and we had it printed down here and I took it with me when I went to Utah. We surely did have fun doing it. And what a good job the committee did in gathering up names. We accounted for all but about 40 of our classmates - and this was the first reunion we had ever held. So I thought we all did well. |
