During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show Saturday, February 12 LET US HAVE FAITH THAT RIGHT MAKES MIGHT; AND IN THAT FAITH LET US TO THE END DARE TO DO OUR DUTY AS WE UNDERSTAND IT. This our youngest daughters 34th birthday. She has a fine husband H. Taylor Peery three lovly children David R., Richard T. and Nancy. She also has a very nice house and means to keep it up. Taylor is over seas as a governour. She is very brave. Two remaining Indian War vetrans remain Amasia Heywood 95 yr old & John Barney 92 yr old Sunday, February 13 Dr and I attended Sunday School enjoyed a nice dinner with Lucile & Heber Hancock. Called on Blanch Rich, Myrene Brewer and attended Sacrament meeting this evening. Chief of poliece was the speaker. We listened to Apostle John Widtso over radio his 8 lecture on principles of L.D.S. Church. Read an hour and retired. A letter from Avon One year old February 13 and going strong is the record of the womens marine corps of the USA. In Salt Lake City, the corps members at the marines office joined in the nation wide celebration with a congratulatory party and a luscious birthday cake. Blowing out the single candle are Sergeant Lila Shafer and Sergeant Agnes Grimes. Monday, February 14 Snowed all day. Do not feel very well blood pressure up to 240 over 110. Have remained lying down most all day. Better this eve 190 over 90. Did not sleep well last night. A gloomy day. Have done some Red Cross knitting and some reading of Ancient Apostle Paul. Listened to radio news. Heavy snow Paralyzed Auto Traffic, from 3 to 12 in. of snow over most of Utah. 24 in of new snow in mountains. Weber Co went over top in the 4th war loan drive. Its quota 6,526,350. Total recd 6,575,000.00 Tuesday, February 15 Utahns shelled out 57 and one half million in federal income taxes last year as compared to 18 and one half million the year before, so you can see there was money in these here hills. In fact, Utah paid 70.8 million to Uncle Sam in taxes during the past twelve months. Prepared nice trout dinner from some Joe Brewer had frozen. Went to R.S. meeting a good lesson on Psalmes. Bought a few groceries for ten dollars ration points must be used for so many foods. Sugar meats fats butter, canned fish, meat & most fruit. We are glad to get it that way when we think of millions starving in Europe & East & West. War news from Italy declares fierce fighting, also in Russia & the Pacific. Millions of our men are now East & West over the water. |
