Description	This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins.

OCR Text	Show Saturday, November 18 Took train from L.A. for Ogden at 7 A.M. A tiresome day on the train tho we did get lunch and were amused by other surrounding people. A widow who had married the second time just six weeks previous and a couple of divorces who were getting off at Las Vegas to be married tonight. Did not retire early as we were intrested in what the Service men had to say after the Bride & Bride to be got off at Las Vegas. A very slow & crowded train. It will be good to get home again after a very enjoyable time Sunday, November 19 Myrene and I arrived home from Calif at ten A.M. Dr, Joe and the six children we down to meet us. We met two nice service men who were in charge of five Italian prisoners & occupied the Stateroom next to our birth. The young Italians were unbalanced in their minds and were watched very closely by M.P.s I did not sleep too sound as I wondered whether the guards might go to sleep. Nothing happened. They were such young Italians and were very homesick. Did not know what it was all about. Dr & I went to S.S. and had dinner with Cleone & family. Monday, November 20 Maj. Junior Edward Rich took the train from Ogden for Florida with two car loads of Drs, officers & nurses where they will take plane for their destination as part of a base hospital in the over sea War may in India, China, or some other far off country as near as he could tell it meant an 18,000 in trip. It was not easy to say good by to another dear son. I am proud of him and know he will make good no matter where he may land. He left at about ten P.M. Blanch, Dr and Cleone went to see him off. Tuesday, November 21 Have been home all day and do not feel so good. Can hardly realize our dear boy Junior is going so far and so uncertain as to when he will return. This World War is terriable and so many of our fine boys are giving their lives. We sometimes wonder will peace be established?
