Show The Dead Return The city pulls a cloud Across her dry eyed grief And liberty stands mute, To stare in disbelief For now the dead return To freedoms vaunted shore, Where men must die for liberty, As men have died before. The twenty one salutes Fall on their deafened ear, And mothers of young sons Are stabbed with aching fear, That they In turn must make Heartbroken sacrifice, To nations greed for power And wars cruel avarice. Let us bow our heads in shame, Dead heroes now come home. Can we feel the hunting Or speeches will atone? A house is builded brick by brick Until it stands the whole, As nations are made thought by thought, The total of the soul.
