This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show SUNDAY……..March 24, 1957 Clear cold day. I attended ward Priesthood meeting and High Priest’s class and Sunday School and Gospel Doctrine Class. Did not stay to last meeting. Went over to Dr Jr’s for nice dinner. Came home and had nap In evening Cleone and I went down to Mortuary and viewed remains of Ada Mack age 85 an old friend of my wife - They attended B.Y. College together in Logan as girls. Had supper at Cleones & Royals and spent part of evening there Read papers and wrote letter to Ms Alice Welling a cousin. MONDAY…...March 25, 1957 Cold and some rain this evening. Snow on mountains - not much - I have been home all day Cleone called me on phone and Myrene came over this evening Dear girls - I have read most of day and wrote three letters and turned on T.V. for interesting programs. Had little nap this p.m. TUESDAY Ogden…March 26, 1957 Nice day, but cold. Cleone and I went up to Brigham City for ride and lunch. Called on Relatives but found no one home. Nice ride Dear Daughter, I have read some and wrote to Ralph W Hardy family in Wash D.C. Listened to Rodeo & T.V. Young boy ten years of age Robert Strose won $64,000 00 on T.V. Category Science. Wonderful feat WEDNESDAY Ogden….March 27, 1957 This is dear Oertels birthday - 62- She has been dead one year and one month I miss her very much. Pleasant day but cool. I have been home all day except for walk over to Myrenes & Jaes. Dr Jr and Blanches called this evening. Recd letter from Avon and a birthday tie from Q Smart who is in Germany with Army U.S. Wrote two letters. Have read most of day. Janath Russell Cannon just called me from Salt Lake to remind us of her dear Mother’s birthday. Dear girl. |
