SATURDAY…...June 8, 1957 Nice day. I have had men working in the garden this afternoon. Cleone called and took me down to visit Justin Eccles wife and new Baby boy at her Parents place - Joe Smith & Wife Vera I have read some. Recd card from Stanley Rich from Van Nuys Cal. saying his brother Joseph C Rich had suffered a stroke, but was better and would be home from Hospital in few days. Quite warm to day about 85o this afternoon SUNDAY……...June 9, 1957 I attended stake Priesthood meeting at 8 a.m. ward priesthood meeting at 9 am Sunday School at 10 to 11:40. Then at 5 pm attended Ward Sacrament Service at which Dr Marion Lewis Dr Jr & Son in Law was one of the speakers and he did well I am very proud of him. This evening at 740 Cleone Royal and I went down to Lindquists Mortuary to view remains of Dr Win Riley Brown an old friend who did in his sleep on 5th Some rain this evening. Dr Helen Hancock and wife Lucile called this evening and brought me some flowers and a pudding I had nice dinner at Cleone & Royals MONDAY…….June 10, 1957 Has rained practically all day except for brief spell during Dr Win Browns funeral. Funeral was in Mt Ogden ward House 27th & Taylor ave good attendance. Speakers David Romney and Barker & closing remark by Bp Le Roy Ros Walquist, Scrips Cleone, Ms JR Morrell and I attended I have been home all day except for funeral Recd letters from Avon and Charlotte - Richard Rich’s wife in Hawaii. I am lonesome to day, and wrote to Richard and Charlotte on the 11th TUESDAY…….June 11, 1957 Nice day. No rain and warmer 70o In afternoon Cleone called and took me to call on Patriarch Fred M Abbott. An old friend and a splendid man He has been cad up with an allochls of Sciatica for past month and is at his Son in Laws place Dr Harding I also called to see Ms TC Sherman. But she was not at home - an old patient & friend Have read some and wrote letter to Dr & Richard B Rich - a grandson and his wife & Baby who are now in Honolulu Recd letter from Avon Rich Smart - our dear daughter in Los Angeles. Lyman Rich and his Sister Hazel Shepherd called for short time on his way to Provo to visit his family Dear good people
