Earth Science Teaching Major Description A degree in Earth Science is designed primarily to prepare teachers for employment in junior high and high schools. Education Earth Science combines the study of astronomy, biology, geography, geology, mathematics, meteorology, environmental science, physics and chemistry under the unified heading of Earth Sciences. Weber State College has recently developed an innovative environmentally oriented program for earth science which has improved teacher quality in the field. Employment Outlook With the stress on the environment today, there has been a great increase in the demand for high school earth science teachers in the United States in recent years. Graduates of Weber State have found employment in their field of specialization upon graduation without exception. The assessment is that the need for teachers of earth science will continue to be great.
