This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show THURSDAY…..June 20, 1957 Cooler. Rain this evening Temp 60o 7pm I have been home all day except this morning Cleone took me for a ride and afterwards I walked over to Myrenes and Jaes. This afternoon Ted Bjornn and his wife - called to see me. His wife is the daughter of Mr & Mrs Lo Thairs Rich of Salt Lake and Jude Jesse P Rich of Logan is Ms Bjornns grandfather. The Bjornn’s have triplets 7 months old all dear little girls. Look just alike and are so bright and strong and beautiful. I was so happy to see them. They are the only triplets ever known in the Rich family. The Father has just rec’d his Masters Degree from the University of Idaho. Good people am very proud of their children. FRIDAY…..June 21, 1957 Nice clear day. Cooler last night 50o Dr Ralph Pugmire’s daughter was married to day in the Salt Lake Temple to Mitchell and they had a big reception this evening at the Pugmire residence. A wonderful affair and one of the longest receptions I have ever seen here. I went up with Royal and Cleone and Myrene. Dr Palmer and Wife were there from Salt Lake and sat with us for refreshments. Cool evening and lawn was damp and I fear many will have colds following the reception. Dr Charles Smart who is taking his Residency at Philadelphia called me on the phone this evening. A dear grandson I wrote to the Ralph W. Hardy family in Wash DC to day. My picture is in the Ogden Standard this evening with the Bjornn triplets - Kathy Rich Bjornn is the mother of the triplets - Lo Thair Richs daughter SATURDAY…..June 22, 1957 No storm to day and fairly nice day I have been home all day except for ride up to Eden in Ogden Valley and back over North Ogden Canyon with Ms Rose May from Salt Lake and old friend of Mrs Rich Nice Scenic road. Have read some. Watered lawn. Cleone called about noon - also Edith Rich called this afternoon. Retire at 10 p.m. Received letter from Mary Peery and one from Alison and Maren Hardy of WAsh D.C. with their picture - Dear grand daughters Dr Charles R Smart called me from Philadelphia Pa last night on phone a dear Grandson who is taking a Residency in Surgery at U of Penn Hospital at Philadelphia. SUNDAY….June 23, 1957 Nice day. I went to our quarterly conference this a.m. Had nice dinner at Cleones & Royals and came home and had short nap. Jesse P. Rich and wife called in afternoon on their way to Salt Lake to attend naming of the Bjornn Triplets and we had nice visit. I listened to the sixty four thousand challenge at p.m. and Later Cleone and I attended a wonderful musical * concert at Farmington |
