This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show MONDAY…...June 24, 1957 Nice warm day about 90o I have been home all day except for brief ride with Cleone this evening Recd letters from Ralph W Hardy from Washington DC and a card from Cloteel saying her son Dr Richard Rich & Wife and Baby would arrive here on July 2nd if all goes as expected They will go from here to San Antonio Texas for Residency in the U.S. Hospital there I have read some to day and wrote letters to President and Sister David O McKay and Dr Charles Smart who is in Philadelphia Nothing special. Gave Carnegie Library two of Myras biographies. TUESDAY…..June 25, 1957 Nice day Temp 90o I have been home all day except for brief trip down to Bank and ride around town with Cleone Myrene and Jackie Glasmann his age 7 grand son who is here from Wash D.C. Bro Austin Shaw our ward Teacher called this evening - a dear good man Recd letter from Dr Win Baker who is with the Veterans Bureau at Hospital at Lake City Florida. I am pleased he is active in the L.D.S. Church. He has been in the Public Health & Veterans Dental work for 30 years He is son of my dear old friend Dr F.W. Baker for many years a dentist in Ogden WEDNESDAY…...June 26, 1957 Nice day. Old Folks at Lorin Farr park. Large crowd. I went out with Bro & Sister Austin Shaw Many old people who are showing signs of failure. Many will not be here next year. All sound happy and were well cared for. Nice day for the outing. In evening Cleone and Myrene gave a nice party up at Joe & Myrene here in South Fork, Ogden Canyon in house of Dr Junior and his son Edward who will leave via for Polar Bear hunt in Arctic Circle north of Norway July 3rd to be gone about 40 days. Browning Family and Dr Jr Famous immediate family meeting myself present. Nice time. Returned home about 11-30 pm THURSDAY…..June 27, 1957 Nice day. Temp about 90o in afternoon I have been home all day except brief brief trip to Bank. Had 2 boys cutting the lawn and pulling weeds. Recd announcement of Robert Russells graduation from Jet Pilot School gave 28-57 at Greenville Air Force Base Mississippi and I wrote air mail letter to him a congratulatory note. Have worked on garden some and watered some am tired to day. Cleone - dear girl took me down town and straightened up house. Have read some. |
