This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show SATURDAY…….July 6, 1957 Nice day - Cooler about 85o This a.m. at 9-30 Cleone drove me down to Orpheum Theatre to see “The Ten Commandments” in picture. The most wonderful moving picture I have ever seen. It lasted about five hours - including a brief intermission. I came home after the show and had dinner and slept for two hours. Read some - watered the garden and called a few friends and told them to be sure to see the “Ten Commandments” in picture. This is Clair Eccles Matthies birthday - 33 - She has 5 children and is a dear good mother and wife. SUNDAY…...July 7, 1957 Nice day cooler about 80o a little rain this morning early I attended ward Priesthood meeting and Sunday School. I handed in to Bp Stewart a review of the blessing and naming of Richard and Charlottes Baby girl blessed by me July 4 - 57 This Had nice dinner at Cleones & Royals and came home and rested a little and then Cleone and I went out to Arthur Grey’s home where a reception was held for Geo H Hall Mrs Grey father on his 90th birthday, Bro Hill is very feeble and will not live long - poor fellow I feel sorry for him. We called on Sister Elizabeth Thomas age 90 and friends of my dear Wife. She is very cheerful - a good woman Recd papers and recd letters. Retire about 10 p.m. MONDAY…..July 8, 1957 Nice day about 90o I have been home all day except for trip down town. Found my pants That I had supposed stolen at a Taylor Shop where I had left them several months ago. Cleone called and took me down town Blanche, Dr Jrs wife, Lynn, and Sharon and children called. Also Lyman Rich & Wife and Daughter Mary and Children called this a.m. Dear Folks, I have read some, Wrote to Avon. Recd card from Dr Jr from Scotland written July 4th President D.O. Mc takes 18 ½ mile horse back ride in hills back of Huntsville with Riding Posse. Jefferson Hunt S.U.P. TUESDAY…...July 9, 1957 Warm day. Cleones birthday 60 years ago a dear daughter and wife and mother and Grandmother. We had lunch together at the Hotel to day and had nice visit This afternoon Lyman Rich and wife and daughter and grandchildren called. Dear good people. Win Newman & Daughter also called and Dr Marion Lewis and Robin also I have read some. Recd letter from Avon and also wrote to her. Nothing special other than mentioned above Retire 10-30 p.m. |
