Show THE OGDEN STANDARD-EXAMINER 13 OGDEN, UTAH, TUESDAY EVENING, FEBRUARY 26, 1957 Ellen Stoddard Eccles Dies in Salt Lake at 90 SALT LAKE CITY—Mrs. Ellen Stoddard Eccles, 90, widow of David Eccles, pioneer Utah empire builder, died at midnight last night at her residence, 1283 E. So. Temple St., of causes incident to age. Mrs. Eccles was the mother of nine sons and daughters, well known in banking, business and civic pursuits. All survive her. Throughout her adult life she was active in the LDS Church, particularly as a leader in the Primary Assn. and Relief Society. BORN IN WELLSVILLE Mrs. Eccles was born Jan. 28, 1867, in Wellsville, Cache County, Utah, a daughter of John and Emma Stoddard. She was married to David Eccles, Ogden industrialist, in the LDS Logan Temple on Jan. 2, 1885. She lived first in Logan and from 1894 to 1907 in Baker, Ore., where Mr. Eccles had extensive lumber interests. In Baker, "Mrs. Eccles was an active leader in the Primary Assn., continuing in Logan where she returned in 1907. In Logan, she served as both a ward and stake Primary president. Sons and daughters surviving Mrs. Eccles include Marriner S. Eccles, Salt Lake City and San Francisco, chairman of the board of the First Security Bank System and former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board; George S. Eccles, president of the First, Security Bank System, and Mrs. S. J. (Jessie) Quinney, both of Salt Lake City; Spencer S. Eccles, president of the Mountain States Implement Co., and Willard L. Eccles, senior vice president of the First Security Bank System, both of Ogden; Mrs. George B. (Marie) Caine, Logan; Mrs. Walter G. (Nora) Treadwell, Mrs, Em Eccles Jones and Mrs. Hugh T. (Ellen) Harrison, all of. Oak land, Calif. Mrs. Eccles is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements will frd announced later. MRS.
