Dr. Morrell Mrs. Morrell Dr. Morrell was just out of medical school, a graduate of Rush Medical School of the University of Chicago. Mrs. Morrell was teaching at the Weber Academy ale ~ with her brother, David O. McKay, now president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They had met at the Chicago Branch of the Church while both attended the University there. Both have led busy lives and are still active in their various work projects. Book Published Dr. Morrell's new book, "Utah's Health and You" came off the presses last October. Several years of research went into the volume. He has also penned papers and a series of articles for magazines, newspapers, the Improvement Era and the Utah Historical Quarterly. - It is fitting that this year, ground will be broken on a Weber County-Ogden City Health Building. Dr. Morrell has championed the program through 35 sometimes discouraging years. During his career, Dr. Morrell served as physician for the Union Pacific, Southern Pacific and Denver and Rio Grande railroads. Both he and Mrs. Morrell vividly recall the early years of practice when a night call could mean an all night journey by horse and buggy to some remote section of the county. Pay if any, would be some produce or animal from the farm. Cites Progress "The past 50 years have seen more progress in medicine than the preceding 1,000 years," Dr. Morrell states. The many stories he can tell of his early career gives the impression that had he to do it all over again, nothing would be changed. At present, Dr. Morrell is the oldest active medical man in Ogden. He is attending physician at the Utah General Depot. He accepted the position last year when he recovered from an illness. He felt a need for continuing his career. His work tending to the needs of the hundreds of government workers is as a public service. State Officer He has served as president of the Utah State Medical Society. Mrs. Morrell served as president of the Utah State Medical Auxiliary. ' Mrs. Morrell at present is writing a biography of President McKay as seen through the eyes of a devoted sister of a devoted brother. She taught school for some years at the Weber Academy. She had left Weber to attend School in Chicago. She was an attendant at the World's Fair in St. Louis. In 1910, she acompanied Dr. Morrell to Vienna for a year of .postgraduate work. Both served missions for the Church. Dr. Morrell served in the Southern States and Mrs. Morrell served in the Central States. Dr. Morrell has served on the 'ligh council of the Logan, Ogden, Mt. Ogden and the old Weber stakes. For the past 10 years he has worked with the senior members of the Aaronic Priesthood. Mrs. Morrell served as Stake President of the YWMIA of Ogden Stake.
