Show PAGE 4 ER | FRIDAY, DECEMBER Let's Keep The Ben Lomond Out to Trample Roy Ben Lomond Scots are out to trample the Roy Royals at Roy on December 21. The Scotty team feels they can baffle the larger Royal team with their speed and full court press. The Royals’ team has the height with a 6’6” center. But the whole Scotty team is speedy and determined. The Royals’ height should give them the rebounding power. But in both practice games with Kerns and Bountiful the small Scotties out-rebounded them by out-hustling them to the positions. Last year Ben Lomond and Roy met on two different occasions. The Ben Lomond Scots came out victorious both times despite the Royals’ height. Since Ben Lomond doesn’t have much height in the members of the team, it will have to be made up in determination. On Dec. 5 the team met Clearfield at Ben Lomond. The Scots wompted them by..a score of 33-17. Some of the members of the team that pinned their men were, Jerry Staley, Art Suekawa and Scott Swift. There were other pins and winners of their matches that helped toward the final score. With returns and new promising wrestlers like this, it could mean a good shot at another State title. Ben Lomond Loses First The Ben Lomond Scots battled the Bonneville Lakers on the Scotty floor last Friday night. The Scots fell to Lakers 72-84. The running game of the Scots was downed by the height of Bonneville’s Clyde Baker and Dennis Papinga. The first quarter went back and forth in scoring for both teams, but by the end of the half the Lakers were in front by ten points. The Lakers came back in the second half with a good drive. By the middle of the last quarter the Lakers had a twenty-four point lead: With only three minutes left in the game, the Scottie’s running game finally got to Bonneville’s Baker. Baker was taken out of the game because he couldn’t keep up. From twentyfour points behind, and only three minutes left, the Scots gave another burst of speed. Misery is... . . running up the mountain side full of school pride to save the B.L. from destruction just to come back and find your car impounded. For you people (sophomores) who don’t know what mistletoe is, here is an explanation. A mistletoe is a plant that grows on a stem. It has small leaves and sometimes is even equipped with berries. For you beginners, the mistletoe is extremely dangerous and should be handled with care. Try not to hang it over your head unless you are sure you know what you are doing. Objects might come flying your way and hit you in the mouth. Last year a_ score of five points was given to participants for every contact. Three points for second contact with the same object, and all other contacts with the same objects were counted as, “just for fun.” Some scores last year totaled into the hundreds. In fact one boy reached one hundred and nine. The highest score reported by a girl was fifty-six points. This year participants do not have to wear numbers. Anyone with at least one leaf or berry may participate. However, faking it by cupping your hand is not legal. Officials have made a new ruling this year. If you have your Hippie credit card, you can make contact with your own sex. But you will only be allowed four points for first time, and all others are discounted.
