Show Friday, April 28 I visited camp G. D.U.P. at home of Lucile Newman. Judge James A Howell gave a very interesting talk on the Governours of Utah. Has rained last night and all afternoon. A very backward Spring. Recd a letter from my uncle Oren Merrill & wife who are far past 80 yr & who had their 60th wedding day two yr. ago Christmas. Took two advance orders for Webe History & recd six dollars for same. Sent box of clothing to Ruth Rich. Saturday, April 29 Wrote letters to Mary A. Taylor and Ruth Rich The war news seems no worse we expect at any minute to hear of several big drives by the Allie who are now bombing Berlin to bits. The death & destruction seems teriable. I pray it will not go on too long. Sunday, April 30 Dr and I went to Sunday School. We had dinner with Cleone. Called on Dr & Mrs Baker who are not well & getting quite old past 80 yrss. Dr, Cleone & I drove up the canon to visite Ezra & Gladys Rich. Spent evening at home & listened to Apostle Johan Widtsos fine talk & Brotherhood of Man. George Phelps Drs cousin called. Also Adrian Woolley. Monday, May 1 Have spent today at home did some writing. Warmer today. The distinguished music of the Salt Lake L.D.S. Choir has won for it the annual George Foster Peabody award, the Oscar of Radio as the outstanding musical program on the air. J. Spencer Cornwall, director, Richard W. Evans The Spoken Word broadcast each Sunday morning from the Salt Lake Mormon Tabernacle. A National award. Station K.S.L. |
