Sunday, July 9 Dr & I attended S.S. 5 Ward. Cleone R Eccles our daughter is 47 yr old today. We had a delicious dinner with her & family. Called on Dr & Mrs Frank W. Baker who are ill. Drove up the canon to visite Dr Ezra Rich. He is fine now. Nazis Execute Over 135,000, Moscow Hears LONDON, July 10 The Moscow radio Monday night quoted the chairman of the supreme council of the Lithuanian soviet republic as saying that the Germans had executed 35,000 persons in the town square of Kaunas and more than 100,00 in Wilno. The broadcast said that in Wilno the Germans, in an effort to speed up the executions, built a special branch rail line to the scene to carry the victims to their deaths. The broadcast said thousands of the victims in Wilno were taken there from Smolensk and Vitebsk. The chairman was quoted as saying that exhausted and emaciated war prisoners were piled in stacks and set afire after kerosene was poured on them. He said that after the executions, only 50,000 of Wilnos 250,000 population remained alive. Tuesday, July 11 Dr and I called on the Swan family. I attended R.S. in 5th Ward and helped quilt.
