Married to Carolyn Clayton, one son, one daughter, three grandsons and one granddaughter.Traveled extensively both in United States and Europe. Toured Greece, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Enjoys visiting grandchildren and relaxing in boat at Flaming Gorge. Had two sons and three daughters. Lived in Salt Lake City, Colorado Springs, Minneapolis, Nephi and Bountiful. Husband died of a heart attack in 1963. Widow for five years and then married Rulon N. Smith who had six children. Now have 20 grandchildren. Husband is principal of Monte Vista School for special children in Farmington. Both active in L.D.S. Church. Served as president of MIA, Primary, Relief Society, Jr. Sunday School Coordinator, MIA Stake Counselor as well as numerous teaching positions. Worked as secretary at Arden Meadow Gold, Navy Base, Hill Air Force Base and the Army Corps of Engineers at Patrick Air Force Base in Florida. Traveled to six foreign countries and most of the states within the U.S. Married to Renae L. Hickman, two grown sons, five granddaughters. Active L.D.S. Church: Relief Society secretary, ward and Sunday School organist. Enjoying retirement from government service. W. North American Aviation and Autonetics; president, executive and technical search firm and advertising agency; sales director, Rosehills Memorial Park in Whittier, California and Forest Lawn Memorial Parks in Glen- dale, California. Sales consultant for cemeteries in Kansas City, Missouri and Littlerock, Arkansas. Currently "just a broken down old quarterback who played four too many years of pro ball at Washington, Boston and Los Angeles." EDWIN WALLACE (TED) HAMER 989 Winall Down Road, N.E., Atlanta, Georgia 30319 233-6471 Briefly attended Weber College but soon found "sand in my shoes" and transferred to Gordon College in Boston, Massachusetts and finished at Tufts University. The call of the sea (and World War II) was stronger than yearning toward theology. Joined Merchant Marine Service, became first officer, left service in 1947. Airline stewardess Nikkr Smith "persuaded me out of batchelorhood". Married 32 years. One son, one daughter .Thomas and Valerie, both graduates of Georgia Tech. Valerie is married to a nuclear engineer, Thomas, a batchelor, works as an air traffic controller. Involved always in lumber business, all but "commuted" between Washington State and Chicago before moving to Atlanta. From construction to company president provided background for present occupation - lumber wholesaler and broker. Avocation: study of ancient history. Worked at First Security Bank, secretary at Commercial Security Bank for nine years and five years with the I.R.S. Now retired. Married to Dick Kay Russell for 37 years, three children, five grandchildren. Spends winters in Quartzsite, Arizona. Also participate in art and craft shows, designing and making jewelry. Active L.D.S. church. Traveled to Europe in 1974 to meet boy completing mission. Hobbies: Music and genealogy. Worked night shift in O.B. for 26 years, taking care of over 70,000 women! Medically retired in 1971. Never married. Active L.D.S. church, but limited now. Was secretary in MIA for 23 years and in Sunday School for several years. Enjoyed seeing the "Passion Play" in Spearfish, South Dakota last year.'T.V. addict", but enjoys the ballet and stage plays at Weber College, etc. Hobbies: embroidery, genealogy. Was president of Sigma Chi Fraternity at University of Utah; President of Weber State College Alumni Association; Vice President, Utah State Board of Corrections; Chairman, Ogden Pioneer Days; Chairman, Weber County Government Study Committee; Served as Bishop, Highland Ward, Ogden East Stake. BARBARA HARBERTSON BATESON 3451 Fir Street, San Diego, California 92104 232-2447 Attended Weber College one year, then married Leo W. Bateson and moved to San Diego, California. One son, two daughters, one step-son and one step-daughter. Seven grandsons and two granddaughters. Active L.D.S. Church. Served as Relief Society president and counselor, Primary president, MIA counselor and teacher in various organizations. Husband is "a traveler." Traveled in motor home in every province of Canada to the north and Mexico City to the south and all points in between. Toured twelve countries. Hobbies: home- making and grandchildren. ELAINE HARBERTSON MOORE 153 West 1850 North, Sunset, Utah 84015 825-8626 First woman in Utah during World War II to be trained as a welder! Worked at Hill Field after husband, Lester J. Moore, enlisted in Navy. Also worked as egg candler, salesperson, meat wrapper and during the Korean War at Hill Field again as an electroplater. Since 1954 has been housewife and mother. Three sons, one daughter, eleven grandchildren. Served in L.D.S. church in executive position in MIA, Primary, Relief Society, Stake Boards, plus teaching various classes. Loves to travel, looking forward to more. Husband is construction superintendent and quality control superintendent. Always had a variety of animals at home, referred to as "Moore's Menagerie." Since 1949 has been with Southern Pacific Railroad. Currently a conductor. A 32° Mason, plays a musette in the Shrine Oriental Band, playing for children's hospitals, parades, conventions, etc. Married Donna Jensen, one son, one daughter, four grandsons and two granddaughters. Lives on Ogden River and fishes off deck of home. Loves to travel in new motor home. Plans retirement in 1981 and hopes to do more traveling then. RENAHART 1954 Grant Avenue, Ogden, Utah 84401 393-0455 Employed at the Credit Bureau of Ogden for 36 years. Started as a stenographer, working for Elizabeth Tillotson, Thomas Clarke and P. R. Whetton when he was manager. Now bookkeeper. Took care of parents. Received plaque for 30 years perfect attendance at Credit Women International meetings. Made a trip to England in 1977. Spends summer doing chemical analysis for a mining company. Active in Federated Church and Women's Aglow Fellowship. Enjoys traveling. Spent time in Fairbanks, Alaska visiting youngest son and family. Spent several winters in Arizona. Boys all served L.D.S. missions, two to Germany and one to Japan. Retired from U. S. Postal service in 1976. Enjoys summers at cabin at Hebgen Lake near West Yellowstone. Winter trips to Hawaii and St. George. Active in L.D.S. church. Bishop in Roy, High Council 13 years, Bishop at Weber State College Stake. Presently serving as second counselor in the Roy Stake Presidency. ALLEN N. HENDERSON 785 Three Fountains Circle, Salt Lake City, Utah 322-1279 Served during World War II as lieutenant in Infantry. Graduated University of Utah Law School in 1952. Did oil brokerage work for five years in several states. Opened law office in 1957 with general practice and specialization in oil, gas and mining law. Served as president of law school, member of Board of Directors, Westminister College in Salt Lake, Chairman of the Utah-Idaho District and member of the Board, Rocky Mountain Oil and Gas Association. Represented Utah Petroleum Landmen's Association on various committees to revise Utah State regulations for State Land Board. Member of several bar associations and gas and petroleum associations. Married Neva Huggins (Class of 1939) in 1942. Enjoys golfing and reading. One daughter, Shirlene Wheatley. Worked for Mountain Fuel Supply Company. Now retired. Enjoyed a trip with family to New Zealand. Retired physical therapist. Member of the adult symphony orchestra. Active in L.D.S. Church, having served as den mother, teacher, chorister. Relief Society President and Stake Sunday School chorister and music director. Hobbies: handwork, making dolls, fishing trips, music and the family. Also enjoys L.D.S. temple work. L. Graduated University of New Mexico in 1972 with M.A. in mathematics. Taught in Los Angeles and San Diego City Schools 5 years, then "gave up the freeway and smog hassle for a more sensible, rural living" as a professor of physics and mathematics at Dixie College. Married to Sarah (Sally) Dunn. Three sons, three daughters, AV2 grandchildren. Spends summers in research with D.O.E. at Oak- ridge, Tennessee and elsewhere on grants to find alternate forms of energy. Nibley who is with Mobil Research and Development in Princeton, New Jersey. Lived in San Francisco, Palo Alto, California; Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, Canada; Scarsdale, New York; London, England; Seattle, Washington and now in Pennsylvania as husband has moved frequently with his work in oil industry. Presently enjoying life in beautiful Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Writes for a newspaper for antique collectors. Teaches Social Relations lessons in Relief Society. Also active in garden club and book club. Three daughters, one lives in Oxford, Ohio; one in Denver, Colorado, and one at B.Y.U. in Provo. Teacher in Sunday School and Relief Society Stake Board. Now Educational Counselor on Stake Board. Married to Rulon H. Kofoed. Widowed April 1978. MARGARET ANN HOCKING TALBOT 8670 Russell Park Road, Salt Lake City, Utah 84121 943-0103 Worked for government in Utah, Louisiana and Maryland. Secretary to Doctor (not MD) who helped perfect the atom bomb. Attended Weber College, University of Utah and Louisiana State. Married Eugene Talbot (class of 1939). For 20 years has operated a magazine agency selling all magazines through main department stores, selling over the phone, with about 10 reps. Traveled in 49 of the 50 states (all except Alaska) plus Mexico, Jamaica, Caribbean and Canada. Active L.D.S. Church: Held leadership positions and in last 30 years taught about 850 classes in Jr. Sunday School, Primary and Relief Society. Received "Cloud Hopper" award from National Square Dance Group - won when she and husband danced in airplane bound for Hawaii. Headed Youth Committee when Utah hosted 17,000 square dancers. Four sons: Terry, U of U graduate in biological science; Lee, U of U in psychology and architecture; Frank and Randy still working to graduate. Eight grandchildren, ages 9 year to 3 months. Hobbies: gardening, dancing, art, plays, baseball, fishing, rock hunting, traveling, genealogy, etc. "I've had a fantastic, wonderful, marvelous, happy, exciting life - and it gets more of all of these every year!" |
