Beck came ‘romping home with the goahead run when Kump bobbled ‘Steve Paur’s ground ball. Granite threatened again in the third inning when the two leadoff hitters singled, but pitcher Judd King got out of the inning on two flyouts and a. strikeout. | TURLEY COMES ON ~~ King-had to retire after—the! inning when his arm stiffened and was replaced on the mound by Merrill Turley who allowed the Farmers just two scratch singles the rest of the way and struck out five. Garcia was in control throughout the way as he struck out five and didn’t issue a base on balls. Granite did manage six hits, but five of them were of the scratch variety, with only shortstop John Robison’s smash to left in the second the only solid hit.
