SI student leaders work in collaboration with course professor and SI coordinator. • Targets traditionally difficult courses • A nationally recognized and certified program • Volunteer group study sessions available in all disciplines • Peer leaders have completed the course with an A or A- • Courses with SI sessions are designated in semester schedule Learning Assistance Program Telephone: 801-626-7824 Location: Lampros Hall, room 101 Web Site: The Learning Assistance Program (LAP) is designed to increase the retention and graduation rates of low-income, developmental, and first generation college students. Students must apply and enrollment in LAP is limited to maintain an individualized approach. LAP coordinates the SmartStart Summer Bridge Program, which not only provides students with the opportunity to earn college credit but also prepares them for university study. Services for eligible students include: • Specialized tutoring • Specialized workshops • Financial aid assistance • Connections to campus-wide resources • Connections to on-campus housing • Free textbooks for developmental math and English courses • SmartStart Summer Bridge Program STUDENT-TO-STUDENT PROGRAM Telephone: 801-626-7027 Location: Wasatch Room 101 SW Since 2003, this program has been a pipeline partnership for Ogden City School District (OCSD) and Weber State University. Serving two middle schools (Mt. Ogden and Mound Fort) and two high schools (Ogden & Ben Lomond), Student-to-Student provides hands on interventions to students desiring to continue their education beyond high school. Students from the university act as mentors within the school and selected classrooms, encouraging students and assisting them with schoolwork and providing insight to college life and admissions. The program's focus is college readiness, academic support, and parental involvement. 25 EDUCATIONAL TALENT SEARCH (TRIO PROGRAM) Telephone: 801-626-7096 Location: Wasatch Hall Lobby Educational Talent Search (ETS) College Bound is a federally- funded program that is designed to help primarily underrepresented students who are low-income, first in their family to attend and graduate from college. In partnership with Ben Lomond and Ogden high schools, Mound Fort and Mt. Ogden middle schools, we serve 600 students, grates 7-12 from our four target schools in the Ogden School District each year. Services include academic advising, career and college planning, admission application assistance, financial aid/scholarship assistance, college entrance examination preparation, and referral to community resources. Upward Bound (TRIO Program) Telephone: 801-626-6798 Location: Annex 10 Web Site: About Upward Bound Program • Funded by federal grants to help low-income/first generation high school students from Davis and Weber counties prepare for higher education • Designed to provide a pre-college educational experience for selected high school students in Davis and Weber Counties • Students must meet the federal guidelines set by the Department of Education in order to participate • Serve approximately 75 students annually from five area high schools: Ben Lomond, Ogden, Clearfield, Layton and Northridge • Program purpose is to increase the number of non-traditional students who enter and graduate from college Academic Year Programming • Tutorial instruction in literature, composition, foreign languages, mathematics, history, computer enhancement training and general science courses in an after school setting at the five target high schools • Saturday morning study hall • Individual counseling for students with personal or academic concerns • Monthly social, cultural and recreational activities • ACT preparation Six-Week Summer Residential Program • Upward Bound offers a summer academic enhancement program held on the campus of Weber State University • Students live in the residence halls, attend enrichment classes and participate in social, cultural and recreational activities STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES (TRIO PROGRAM) Telephone: 801-626-7009 Location: Student Services, Suite 265-279 Web Site: weber.edu/sss The Federal Government, through the Department of Education under Title IV, funds the Student Support Service Program. Each student who is admitted into the program meets with an advisor.
