Show Columbus February 1 Friday This is a very cold morning three below zero. Car radiator frozen: Dr not discover it until on our way to the Worthington Bank. Have some time getting it fixed but did finally. With the prolonged trip I became very cold and chilled so When we did get home Oertel put me in an electric blanket. I took a hot bath and retired for the night. On our way home from Worthington Oertel came within ten feet of running into a passanger train she did not see it coming and had I not warned her she seemed fine we would all have been killed. The most narrow escape from death we ever had. She saw the signal but did not seem to realize a train was near. I saw the train and not the signal. Columbus February 2 Saturday Another cold night. I have quite a cold so have remained in bed all day. Oertel is so dear as this is Marys first day without a special nurse she went to the Hospital and spent a while with Mary. I recd a letter from Gladys Bevan at home and she said they had let Phyllis go home. Also had a nice letter from Elizabeth Thomas. |
