Edmonds Horner (1793 to1853) published the first textbook on pathology in the United States Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Scotland A charter was granted in 1505 uniting the barbers and surgeons and to this the College attributes its origin. In 1647 the society occupied rooms in Dicksons Close; the present hall in Nicolson Square was opened in 1832. Famous men connected with the College were John and Charles Bell, Liston, Knox, Syme. Worlds Widest Tablecloth Woven GOTHENBURG, Sweden The worlds widest tablecloths without seams have just been finished at the Dalsjofors linen mills, near Gothenburg. They are close to ten feet square and are intended for the official tea table in the golden room of the famous Town Hall of Stockholm. Special looms had to be built and over 17,000,000 perforations had to be made in the master copy for the design. For the banquet tables, used to entertain Nobel prize winners, among others, two dozen tablecloths have been woven of Damask. They are about thirty three feet long. but only 71 inches wide. Altogether the new linen closet of Mrs Town Hall will have 64 tablecloths of various sizes and 1500 napkins. The designs Include architectural motifs from the building itself.
