Show MOTOR RIVALS WAR AS KILLER 1933 Deaths In One Year As High As Total U. S. Army Losses CHICAGO, March 28. Appalled by the nations automobile accident deaths in 1934 the most ever recorded and only 412 less than, all American soldiers killed in battle during the world war state legislatures today were considering drastic measures designed to reduce the mounting toll. Members of the A.E.F. officially listed as killed in action totalled 35,912. Deaths attributed to auto accidents last year were listed by the National Safety council as 35,500, compared with 31,363 in 1933, and 33,675 in 1931, the previous peak year. THE TEST OF A MAN The test of a man is the fight he makes And the way he stands on his feet and takes Reverses of life its knocks and blows; The grit that he daily shows. Its easy to laugh when the road is smooth; When no obstacles lie in the path to move The test of a man when he sets his goal Through the breakers that lash and beat at his soul. It isnt the victory easily gained That makes the man who is honored and famed, Or that wins the love and respect of all. The man whose back is against the wall Is the man who wins in the game of life. With head held high through storm and strife; And a gallant smile if he gains or fails; Hes set his course toward the Holy Grail. You learn by the knocks and jolts you get; Through the hours of sorrow and keen regret; Through loss of the prize that escaped your hand; And the blows that the soul must stand; That victories gained lend new courage and might, Yea, the test of a man is his fight for the right! His honest endeavor is proof of his worth, Such men, indeed, are the salt of the earth! Bea Fern Washburn. Rynd in 1845 introduced the hypodermic syringe in Europe University of Rome, Italy Founded in 1265 by Pope Boniface VII for impecunious students who came to Rome. The Medical School was one of the first in Italy to teach pediatrics, Concetti giving courses in this subject in 1896. The universitys fortunes have been varied, going through war, pestilence and invasion in fact sometimes only the teachers remained.
