Show INSULIN General: Fatigue, muscular weakness, hunger sensation, sweating. Hypoglycemic symptom complex: Dizziness, delirium, cramps. Local: If exceptionally susceptible, necrosis of adipose tissue. PHOSGENE Grape juice, grape sugar, cane sugar. Intravenously: When symptom complex develops: 5 to 20 grams of dextrose as a 5 to 50 percent sterile solution. Subcutaneously; 1 2 c. c. (8 minims) 1:1000 epinephrine solution. Lung irritation, hemorrhagic pneumonia. Calcium chloride injections, inhalations of the vapor from one fourth percent sodium bicarbonate solution, venesection. Intravenously: dextrose. Atropine. Mustard plaster to neck and chest. IODINE Lethal dose 48 to 64 grains. Tincture of iodine, two thirds to 1 oz. Iodoform, 128 grains. LEAD SALTS Lead acetate, white lead, lead oxide, red lead. Lethal dose 320 to 800 grains. LYSOL MEAT POISONING Ptomaine poisoning, botulism. Pain in the mouth, esophagus and stomach; irritation in the throat, salivation, vomiting, depression, headache, small pulse, tachycardia, renal irritation, albuminuria, hemoglobinuria, dyspnea; loss of weight, iodine eruption, catarrh of the mucous surfaces. Tincture of iodine causes brown coloration of the vomitus and of the mucous membranes. Acute poisoning: Severe gastroenteritis. Chronic poisoning: Blue gums, lead anemia, lead colic, constipation, vomiting, lead paralysis. Lead encephalopathy, delirium, coma. Same as phenol. Acute gastroenteritis, vomiting, diarrhea, high fever, extreme weakness and prostration, dizziness, mydriasis, ptosis, collapse. Gastric lavage, flour, starch, mucilage, albumin, emetics, laxatives, sodium hyposulphite, sodium bicarbonate, calcium preparations (Ehrlichs sulphanilic acid solution). Acute poisoning: Gastric lavage, emetics, sodium and magnesium sulphate, phosphates, albumin, milk, mucilage, charcoal, sodium hyposulphite intravenously. For colic: Opium, atropine belladonna, enemas. Chronic poisoning: Potassium iodide, sodium hyposulphite, narcotics, phenobarbital, stimulants, strychnine. Emetics, gastric lavage, enemas, castor oil, charcoal, camphor, botulism serum. PICRIC ACID Lethal dose 30 to 160 grains. POTASSIUM CHLORATE Lethal dose 80 to 240 grains. QUININE Lethal dose by mouth 240 grains. SALVARSAN SANTONINE lethal dose one half to 5 grains. SCOPOLAMINE Yellowish red vomitus, yellow discoloration of skin and mucous membranes, yellow vision. Headache, slow pulse, albuminuria, hematuria. Methemoglobinemia methemoglobinuria, hemoglobinuria, dryness in the throat, vomiting, thirst, diarrhea, icterus, cyanosis, cardiac weakness, uremia. Tinnitus, excitement, hemorrhage from mucous membranes, disturbance of vision and hearing, blind-ness, disturbance of consciousness, collapse, reduced pulse rate. Same as arsenic. Vomiting, numbness, cramps, mydriasis, collapse, salivation, mild colicky pains, paralysis, visual disturbances, reddish discoloration of the urine, increased libido, polyuria, strangury. Same as atropine. Gastric lavage, charcoal, diuretics. Stains from the skin may be removed with ether or alcohol. Gastric lavage, laxatives, diuretics, oxygen inhalations, venesection, stimu-lants, camphor, pilocarpine. Avoid acids, lemonade. Gastric lavage, emetics, charcoal, stimulants. For angioneurotic crises: epinephrine. For skin eruption: sodium hyposulphite, calcium preparations. Camphor, gastric lavage, artificial respiration, char-coal, ether inhalation, chloral hydrate. |
