Monday January 14 Columbus Arrived at seven this morning. Extremely cold. Oscar and Oertel met us and we drove to the university Hospital to see Mary. We found her very serious by sick. She was very weak had only slept under opiates and we certainly have had a very anxious day. Had some breakfast with Oertel and Oscar at U. Club after operation. Dr. Russel means specialist operated both mastoid at ten-A.M. Dr. Earl Baxter two other Drs and Dr went in attendance. Oertel, Oscar and I waited at hospital until it was over. The most anxious I ever spent in my life. The operation lasted over hour. No ether taken but gas etc. She stood it very well. She has been very sick all day. Elders administered also Dr and Oscar. Tem 100 Tuesday. January 15 Columbus This A.M. Mary very sick very little rest during the night. Miss Mack is her day nurse and Mis Woight her night nurse. We have had a very anxious day her temperature 100 cold baths every two hr to reduce. We are very much worried; but with faith in our Heavenly Father, the Elders and best help possible we hope she can be spare to us in health again. She has been so dear and patient thro it all. We have spent all day and until late tonight. Her temperature is down some at din tonight. Had a nice dinner with Oertel. It is still very cold and snowed some last night. Have been at Hospital most of today.
