Selecting as part of the 12 credit hours any one of the following courses: Economics 10, Economic History of the United States; Economics 130, Business and Government ; History 5, American Civilization; History 120, Constitutional History of the United States; Political Science 1, American National Government; Philosophy 120, Philosophy of Democracy; or 72 Academic Information 2. Presenting advanced placement credit in American History or suitable transfer courses from other institutions, or 3. Passing a special examination administered before the end of the second week of each quarter under the direction of the Dean of the School of Arts, Letters and Science. If this option is completed, then the Social Sciences requirement is reduced to 9 credit hours. Family Life: The general education Family Life requirement for women students may be satisfied by completing one course selected from the following: Family Life 1, Food for the Family (3) Family Life 6, Principles of Nutrition (3) Family Life 13, Family Finance (3) Family Life 14, Management for Effective Living (3) Family Life 16, Home Furnishing (3) Family Life 18, Personal Development (3) Family Life 23, Family Clothing (3) Family Life 33, Marriage and Family Living (3) Family Life, 35, Child Development (5) Family Life 100, Family Relations (3) REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ASSOCIATE IN ARTS AND THE ASSOCIATE IN SCIENCE A candidate for graduation with an Associate in Arts or an Associate in Science must complete a minimum of 93 credits. Students must include in the 93 credits the specific course and area requirements listed under the requirements for a Bachelor's Degree. In a school or department where there is a specific curriculum presented, the curriculum listed substitutes for the general area requirements. The titles of Associate in Arts and Associate in Science are designed for students who do not plan to complete a baccalaureate program at Weber State College. Associate in Arts Requirements: A candidate for the title of Associate in Arts must include in the required credits a minimum of 15 credits in one foreign language, or two high school units of one foreign language with at least one additional course in the same language completed in college. Three high school units of one and the same language completed in high school satisfies the Associate in Arts requirement. Residence Requirement: A student must have completed a minimum of 30 credits at Weber State College for the title of 73 |
