Show Services of the College results of the medical examination for the guidance and protection of the students and the college. The college physician shall be the final judge of a student's physical fitness for participating in activities and for using the college facilities. HOUSING SERVICE The residence halls at Weber State College are of fine quality and are staffed with competent head residents, personnel assistants, maintenance, custodial and food service employees. Each hall has a program for student government and balanced educational, cultural and social activities. The residence halls are named after mountain ranges in Utah. Residents must be regularly enrolled full-time (10 hours or more) students at Weber State College. Student Housing Policy—All single freshmen and sophomore women students under 21 years of age, not living at home, are required to live in college operated residence halls. All single freshmen men students under 21 years of age, not living at home, are expected to live in college operated residence halls. In unusual circumstances, the Director of Housing may make exceptions to the above policies provided a written request is made by the parent. Any student may apply for permission to live in a residence hall. When applications for admission to residence halls exceed the available facilities, the Director of Housing shall decide which students will be admitted. Inasmuch as Weber State College is concerned about the welfare of students not living at home but living in off-campus facilities, the college may investigate such arrangements. Campus Residence Halls—Apartment-type residence halls accommodate six students per apartment. Facilities include combination living room-kitchen, bath, storage, and three two- student bedrooms. Each apartment is equipped with a refrigerator, range, table, chairs and draperies. Each student room has two desks, chairs, study lamps, chest of drawers and closets. Telephones may be installed if desired, but all students share in the basic charges. Electricity is provided by the college. Cooking utensils, dishes, towels, bed linens, blankets, bedspreads, irons, ironing boards for use in apartments, and all other personal effects are to be furnished by the occupants. 80 Services of the College STANSBURY HALL and LASAL HALL are for women. Each hall has facilities for 72 students. WASATCH HALL, a large two wing hall for men will accommodate 111 in each wing. There are ample study-recreational facilities, including a large lounge. Residents share a room with another student and are furnished bed linens, window drapes, comfortable beds, lamps, study desks, chairs, chest of drawers and closets. Blankets, bedspreads, towels, and other personal effects are not furnished. Students living in Wasatch Hall must take contract meals in the Union Building cafeteria. Twenty meals per week are provided: The Sunday evening meal is omitted. There are regularly scheduled times when men wear suits and ties and the women wear dresses and heels. Applications, Procedures and Policies—Interested students are invited to visit with or direct inquiries and requests for application to the Director of Housing, Weber State College, Ogden, Utah. Upon request, an application and brochure will be furnished. The application should then be completed and returned with the $25 advance payment. The advance payment is credited toward the Spring Quarter rent. Priority lists are based on date of receipt of application. Room assignment letters are mailed as early as feasible to prospective residents. Acceptance of application and advance payment does not constitute admission to the College. Application for admission to the College is made at the Registrar's Office, Weber State College, Ogden, Utah. Students living in college residence halls agree by written contract to retain their accommodations for the academic year. Charges for college facilities are payable in advance. If payments are past due the student will be restricted from board and room1 services. The $25 advance payment is refunded if notice of reservation cancellation is received by the Student Housing Office within ten (10) days of the date on the letter assigning the student to a room. Pets, explosives, alcohol, and gambling are prohibited in college residence halls. Firearms and ammunition must be stored in the student housing weapons cabinets. Residential Housing—The Student Housing Office provides up-to-date listings of facilities available in the community. The housing office cannot assume any responsibility for student or householder rentals. Charges for board and room range from $60 to $90 per month. Apartment and room only rates range from $50 to $85 per month, and $18 to $30 per month respectively. Summer Housing—The college residence halls are available to Summer School students. Reservations may be made for the full Summer Quarter or portions thereof. Both single students 81 |
