Show Education Child and Family Studies Program: Family Life MajorBachelor Degree I. General Requirements: A. Specific course requirements of the college (see index). B. Bachelor Degree General Education requirements (see index). C. A minor is not required. A concentration outside of the Child and Family Studies Department is required. D. Family Life majors must have a C or better in major courses. E. An overall G. P. A. of 2.00 or C is required. F. 183 total hours are required for this degree. G. Sixty of the 183 total hours must be upper division (courses numbered 300 or above). II. Specific Requirements: A. Option I: Family Life General 1. A minimum of 60 hours within the Department of Child and Family Studies. 2. A twenty-hour emphasis approved by an adviser and the department in a discipline of the student's choice outside of the Department of Child and Family Studies. 3. Child and Family Studies courses required: 101 (3), 110 (3) or 115 (3), 140 (5), 150 (5), 335 (3), 499A or 499B (3-4). a. Select a minimum of two courses from each of the following areas: (1) Food and Nutrition: Child and Family Studies 204 (5), 300 (3), 402 (3). (2) Management and Consumer Education: Child and Family Studies 110 (3), 115 (3), 315 (3). (3) Clothing and Textiles: Child and Family Studies 130 (3), 133 (3), 230 (4), 235 (3), 330 (3). b. Select a minimum of 3 courses from each of the following areas: (1) Family Relations: Child and Family Studies 141 (2), 142 (3), 340 (5), 440 (3), 445 (3). (2) Child Development: Child and Family Studies 252 (3), 255 (3). 360 (3), 450 (3), 470 (3). B. Option II: Special Emphasis 1. A total of 60 hours constitutes this major. A minimum of 40 hours within the Department of Child and Family Studies. 2. Child and Family Studies courses required: 101 (3), 110 (3) or 115 (3), 120 (4), 150 (5), 340 (5). Additional hours by contract with departmental adviser designed to meet student goals. This allows a student to concentrate in the areas of foods, clothing, managment and consumerism, or interior design. In addition, the student may include related courses from other disciplines in the emphasis. 3. A minor is required in a discipline outside of the department. C. Option III: Family Relations Emphasis 1. A total of 60 hours constitutes this major. 2. Child and Family Studies courses required: 101 (3), 110 (3) or 115 (3), 140 (5), 150 (5), 315 (3), 340 (5), 440 (3), 445 (3), 486 (2-9), 483 (3) or 499 B (3). Additional hours selected according to student goals and arranged by contract with departmental adviser. 3. In lieu of a minor, a 20-hour emphasis of the student's choice outside of the Department of Child and Family Studies approved by departmental adviser and the curriculum committee of the Child and Family Studies Department. 122 Education Child and Family Studies Program: Child Development Minor I. General Requirements: A. An overall G. P. A. of 2.00 or C is required. II. Specific Requirements: A. Minimum of 24 credit hours. B. Child and Family Studies courses required (20 hours): 150 (5), 360 (3 ) 362 (3), 371 (3), 372 (6). C. Child and Family Studies courses to elect from (four credit hours): 255 (3) 257 (3), 364 (2), 450 (3), 451 (3), 470 (3), 499A (3-4). Program: Family Relations Minor I. General Requirements: A. An overall G. P. A. of 2.00 or C is required. II. Specific Requirements: A. Minimum of 24 credit hours. B. Child and Family Studies courses required (15 credit hours): 140 (5), 150 (5), 340 (5). C. Child and Family Studies courses to elect from (9 credit hours): 141 (2) 142 (3), 440 (3), 445 (3), 499B (3-4); one of the following may be included 300 (3), 315 (3), 335 (3). Program: Family Life Minor I. General Requirements: A. An overall G. P. A. of 2.00 or C is required. II. Specific Requirements: A. Minimum of 24 credit hours. B. Child and Family Studies courses to elect from (the student may select courses of his/her choice from at least five of the six departmental areas): 1.
