Support courses required: Engineering Technology 319 (5). Program: Electronic Engineering Technology Honors I. General Requirements: A. Enroll in General Honors Program and complete at least 10 hours of General Honors courses. B. Maintain an overall G. P. A. of 3.3. C. Fulfill requirements for Electronic Technology major leading to the Associate of Applied Science Degree or the Electronic Engineering Technology major leading to the Bachelor of Science Degree. II. Specific Requirements: A. In fulfilling requirements for the Associate of Applied Science complete at least 25 hours in Electronic Technology courses on an Honors basis, 15 hours of which must be in 200 level courses. In the case of the Electronic Engineering Technology major complete at least 25 hours of Electronic Engineering courses on an Honors basis of which 10 hours must be 400 level courses. B. In the case of the Electronic Engineering Technology major complete a senior Honors project. C. All Electronic Technology courses are available on an Honors basis with the exception of Electronic Technology 126, 224, 246, 266, 276. D. Permission from the department chairman should be sought before registering in a course for Honors credit. A written agreement should be reached with the appropriate professor regarding the work expected for Honors credit. (See Composite and Interdepartmental Programs.) Additional courses recommended in instrument circuits and instrumentation. ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY COURSES 322. Logic Design (4) Provide experience in analyzing and designing combinational, clocked sequential and asynchronous sequential digital circuits. Prerequisite: Electronic Technology 124. Three one hour lectures, one three hour lab per week. 332. Active Networks (5) This course provides the student with the necessary background to analyze and to design active filter networks, covers Butterworth, Chebychev and elliptic filters. Considers the effect of non-ideal active devices. Prerequisites- Engineering Technology 319. Electronic Technology 244. Four one hour lectures, one three hour lab per week. 345. FCC License Examination Study (2) Material covered in the Federal Communications Commission 2nd class commercial license examination. Two lectures. Prerequisite: Electronic Technology 234, 254. A 346. FCC License Examination Study (2) Material covered in the Federal Communications Commission 1st class commercial license examination. Two lectures. Prerequisite: Electronic Technology 234, 254. W 350. Instrumentation and Measurement (4) A study of measurement standards, errors in measuring physical data, transducers, data conversion systems, frequency spectrum and signal enhancement systems. Prerequisite: Engineering Technology 319. Three one hour lectures, one three hour lab per week. 364. Communications Circuits II (4) Lecture and laboratory experiences with some basic communications circuits and devices microphones, amplifiers, limiters, tape recorders and acoustics. Prerequisite: Electronic Technology 264. Three one hour lectures, one three hour lab per week. 389. Cooperative Work Experience (1-9) Open to all third year students in Electronics Engineering Technology. A continuation of Electronic Technology 289. A W S Su 424. Digital Systems (4) The course will provide the student with system design techniques which utilize computers. The student will design and build simple systems. Prerequisite: Electronic Engineering Technology 322. Three one hour lectures, one three hour lab per week. 428. Analog/Digital Systems (4) The student will analyze, design and construct systems such as: automatic test systems, data acquisition systems, data processing systems and digital filters, using analog and digital components and involving hardware and software. Prerequisite: Electronic Engineering Technology 424. Two one hour lectures, two three hour labs per week. 444. Digital Signal Processing (5) An introduction to digital filter analysis and design: also signal processing using Discrete Fourier Transform and Fast Fourier Transform. Prerequisite: Engineering Technology 319, Elec-tornic Engineering Technology 332. Offered every other year. Four one hour lectures, one three hour lab per week. 452. Fundamentals of Automatic Control (5) An introduction to the theory and components of control systems including system response, stability and compensation. Prerequisites: Engineering Technology 319, Electronic Technology 244. Offered every other year. Four one hour lectures, one three hour lab per week. 454. Microwave Techniques (4) Elementary study of microwave generation and propagating devices: emphasis on phenomena peculiar to microwave signals. Prerequisite: Electronic Engineering Technology 364, Related Technical Education 117. Offered every other year. Three one hour lectures, one three hour lab per week. 474. Acoustics and Sound (5) Lecture and Lecture-Laboratory experiences in basic acoustic properties and problems. Sound system design with a discussion of microphone techniques and applications, reverberation calculatons and measurement. Prerequisites: Electronic Technology 264. Electronic Engineering Technology 364. Offered every other year. Four one hour lectures, one three hour lab per week. 479. Senior Problems (2) Special problems covering scope of study during the previous four years. Two lectures. S 486. Electronic Equipment Maintenance (3) Adjustment and maintenance of electronic equipment such as test equipment and electronic equipment used in industrial applications. Super, vised study and shop practice. May be repeated up to three times where work and study is on different types of equipment or systems. Prerequisites: Sufficient work experience or related training in the area of study for the student to benefit from additional supervised instructions. W S 489. Cooperative Work Experience (1-9) Open to all fourth year students in Electronics Engineering Technology. A continuation of Electronic Engineering Technology 389. 492. Short Courses, Workshops, Institutes and Special Programs (1-6) In order to provide flexibility and to meet many different needs, a number of specific offerings are possible using this catalog number. When the number is used it will be accompanied by a brief and specific descriptive title. The specific title with the credit authorized for the particular offering will appear on the student transcript. A W S Su 493. Special Topics in Electronic Technology (2-5) Designed primarily for majors and high school teachers who desire to explore areas of electronics not covered in regular course offerings.
