Sat. 9th Dorothy & Ralph came & took Margaret home. Sunday I wrote to Rosabelle. Sunday 10th. To Country Club at 12 noon for brunch given by Alice & Ms. Hetzel. In honor of Emmy. About 50 young girls & some dowagers present. I had nice visit with Mrs. Eugene Smith, Ms. Fisher. home at 3. Nan & I for a ride in eve. (Nans grandson Skipper broke his arm Saturday) Monday 11, Nan & I down town at 11. Got wedding gifts for Penny Fisher & Pam Bingham also toiletries at Samuels. Had nice talk with Dr. Nelson. Lunch at Keeleys. A hot day. Glad to get home in the cool. Democratic Natl Convention at 5 & to bed time. Tuesday, July 12, A hot day. Therm. 94 degrees. I do not stand the hot well. Spent most of the day down stairs in the cool. Henry came to do chores. He has a new grandson (Peggys) Democratic convention started. I listened. Hot weather still 98 degrees in Salt Lake. Wed, July 13, I spent the day listening to Dem. convention. In late eve. John Kennedy was elected. Nan out pm. The men got soil in flower beds. Thurs, July 14, Nans sister Ruth from Calif. came to visit. We went to Fish House for lunch. I spent much of the pm down in red room listening to convention. Interesting. John Kennedy nominated. Mr. Weis worked in eve & finished floor. Nans sister stayed all night. Friday, July 15, A hot day 102 degrees & Nan & sister down town. Nan & Ruth left at 1 pm for Salt Lake. I listened to convention acceptance speeches & end of con. Almost overpowered with heat. Did not go to Bingham wedding nor Dixon reception to both of which I was invited.
