Show cinder fellas The 41 track squad was an assembly of champions. Some critics have described it as the best team to represent Weber on the cinder paths during the past decade . . . Outstanding man and also captain of the team this year was Willie Thomas. His effortless form over the hurdles styled him an easy winner. In the distance events, La Mar Green and Glen Cherry stood out as point-getters. Arnold Roe, Bob Allen, and Earl Tanner fought it out for top honors in the 440. George Stewart was prominent in the broad jump, while Morris Ludden cavorted in the pole vault. In the dashes, Ray Freeman again set the pace for his competition . . . Intercollegiate competition this year included the dual meet with Idaho Southern, the Pocatello Invitational, the Brigham Young University Invitational, and the conference meet. Coach Ferron Losee has proved himself to be an ambitious leader with plenty of love for whichever sport he is called on to handle . . . He is the sort of person you can't help liking; he can be the strictest of professors and still turn around and joke with the best of them. He seems to have a knack of producing strong contenders for the best titles. Invariably you can find some of his talent at the head of the list. Ferron's ability to get the best from almost any athlete with seemingly no effort at all, plus his good looks and generous congeniality, has made him one of our popular coaches. |
