Couldn’t have been much worse. You name it, we probably had it. An unusual beginning for a sports story? Why not, it was an unusual game. For the first time in its entire history as a (High School, members of the Ben Lomond student body, better known as the Friendly, Fighting Scots, can say that they have taken the Iron Horse for two consecutive years. Although it was the coldest day of the present school year, wasn’t it funny that the cold seemed to go away when we scored? At halftime, with the score 20-0, the few Ogden Tigers who were there seemed to be in some sort of shock, while the Scots were going hoarse with joy. It was a great game, and congratulations are in order for the coaches and team members. Heading this year’s Sophomore Class are: Ron Candia, president; Debie Adam, vice president, and Vickie Layne, secretary. first on November 3 at 4 o’clock for the students. Public performances will be November 4 and 5 at 8 o’clock in the evening. Come, see who ends up where in Mary Chase’s hilarious come: dy. At Last! Sophs Get With It Sophomores have finally awakened from their sleep. No longer will they be the last to get involved in Ben Lomond’s activities and ‘happenings.’ They caught up with the school and elected some great oficers. Ron Candia, Debbie Adam, and Vickie Layne are looking forward to leading the class of ‘74’ with a great start. Already they have started their office by choosing a class yell: HIGHER GOALS FOR EVERMORE LOYAL SCOTS OR ‘74’. As we have stated in our yell, we have set some goals for the Brodies to follow. We feel we need to build to school spirit and school respect. Ben Lomond is great, so let’s make it even greater. Don’t support just the Varsity team, but also your own class. Get involved in the school‘s activities and let’s show the Seniors and Juniors that we can do it. With the support of the whole class of ‘74’ it will be a great year. Iron Horse Week proved to the Juniors and Seniors that Sophomores are doing a better job than any other group of Sophomores have done in previous years. There was plenty of hard work done by the class of ‘74’ on their hall. The officers have already sponsored a bake sale for their class. They are planning to sponsor many other activities. The Brodies have a great year ahead of them. Good luck! Three Scots at “warm-up” time at the annual IRON HORSE GAME. SCOTS TAKE ON ROY ROYALS TODAY AT 3:30 Today at 3:30 the Ben Lomond Scots will take on the Roy Royals. It is a home game for Roy. So it will be played on their field. _ Roy has had a pretty good season this year with their biggest win probably being their victory over the Bonneville Lakers. If the Scots can play as well today as they did at the Iron Horse game, then we can pull a win over Roy. Remember: Ben Lomond vs. Roy Game played at Roy 3:30 p.m. Be sure to attend! Women's Lib Strikes Again! Chalk down another victory for Women’s Lib! Female students attending Ogden City Schools can now wear pants to school. For the last couple of years, there has been a controversy between the School Board, parents, and students which led to the unanimous approval by the School Board of a more liberal dress code. Here are some _ questions which I think we should con- sider: 1. Now that we have this new freedom, what are we going to do with it? 2. Are “grubbies” appropriate? 3. How will this affect our attitude toward school? So far, the girls’ attitude toward school has improved since the standard was relaxed. They are more easy-going since they don’t have to worry about how they sit, stand or stoop. |
