Teachers Leave With Hints Of Bitterness At the beginning of next year Ben Lomond will lack seven members of its present faculty. There is a doubtful shadow over really why they are doing this or are being asked to do so. We asked those who are leaving why they were. Those who are leaving are: Mr. Brent Belnap: ‘Because I’ve worked hard here for three years. Also for the change in coaching members.” Mr, James Hassell: “To seek better opportunities and for coaching reasons.” Mr. Stephen Slater: “Because of the lack of enrollment. at Ben Lomond and _ they don’t need me to teach any more.” Also “because they are changing the coaching staff to different members.” Mr. Ron Taylor: “For the change in the coaching assignments and because they have assigned me to teach the Learning Way Center. Mrs. Becky Oliver was not available for comment. The other two members were employed at the beginning of the year as sort of long-term substitutes. Their comments: Mrs. Betty Prosise: Because the enrollment is dropping and because she had no contact to return next year to teach. Mr. Mel Behling: Because of lack of enrollment and I was only a substitute. : We wish these teachers the best and thank them and we’re sorry they had to leave under these circumstances, The American Legion Post No. 9 has announced the names of those boys who will attend the 1972 Utah Boys’ State. Those students going from Ben Lomond are: Rex Wililams, Ken Alford, Kim Peterson, Russell Eason, Dean Winn, Bill Green, Ben Tillman, and Howard Paskett. This year Boys’ State will be held Sunday, June 4th, through Saturday, June 10th. Those who attend will learn about our state and local governmental organizations. This year only one third as many Scots are going to attend Boys’ State as did last year and could have this year. Two Unusual Things Mark Debate On Wednesday, May 17th, the forensics squad from here at B. L. hosted the debate teams from Box Elder High to a tournament. The tournament idea was started by Mrs. John Hebestreet who is presently student teaching with Mr, Monsen in Room 30. There were two _ unusual things about this tournament: (1) It was held at the end of the school year, and (2) it concerned itself with next year’s debate resolution (it’s on financing education in the United States).
