Show Administration and Organisation Student government is organized according to the Constitution of the Associated Students of Weber State College. It functions through a legislative branch, an executive branch, and a judicial branch. The student government formulates measures necessary to implement the provisions of the constitution, such as the management of the student budget, the appointment of committees, the conducting of elections, the initiation of a program of out-of-class activities, and the coordination of Union Building policies. The Weber State College Union Policy Board consists of members of the College administration, student government, and alumni. This board establishes policies for the use of the College Union. The Union Director and his staff are responsible for the administration of the Union. The Inter-Fraternal Council which includes the president of each fraternity and sorority supervises and controls all fraternal activities. The Dean of Women and the Assistant Dean of Students are non-voting members of the Council. The social fraternities and sororities of Weber State College are local in nature and not affiliated nationally. The Weber State College Development Fund Board, which promotes financial support to the College, includes representatives from the Board of Trustees, the Board of Directors of the Weber State College Alumni Association, the faculty, and the community directs the activities of the development fund. The Development Fund Board appoints a Director to administer the policies of the board. The Weber State College Alumni Association functions through a Board of Directors elected by the members of the Alumni Association. The chairman of this board serves as an ex-officio member of the Board of Trustees of the College. Advisory committees from the professions, businesses, trades, and industries assist the college in matters pertaining to courses and curricula to meet the needs of businesses, professions, trades, and industries. Each committee is an integral part of the organization of an occupational course or curriculum. 10 Administration and Organization President's Message The school year 1968-69 will be another of great importance in the long history of Weber State College. We are living in the most rapidly changing times in the history of the world. These changes present challenges to young people of a magnitude never faced before by any generation. They also present opportunities of greater proportion and complexity that have ever been faced before by any generation. These challenges and opportunities can be met successfully only by individuals with high personal competence. Weber State College welcomes its opportunity to assist young people to prepare for these challenges and opportunities. The faculty will number approximately 320 during the year. The past success of Weber graduates as they have entered employment or have continued for advanced degrees attests to the excellent quality of the members of the faculty. These faculty members have advanced degrees from the leading universities of the country and from some foreign countries. They offer to the students a high quality of educational opportunities. During the past year construction was begun on the $4,- 000,000 Science Building, the $2,000,000 addition to the Student Union Building, and the $2,000,000 Student Residence Hall. The Residence Hall should be ready for occupancy for the beginning of the 1968-69 school year. This imposing twelve-story building will be most welcome in meeting the back-log of student applications for campus housing. The addition to the Union Building and the new Science Building should be completed during the year. Also, during the 1968-69 school year construction should begin on a $1,000,000 Administration Building and a $3,000,000 Classroom Building. It is possible that construction might begin on a second $3,000,000 Classroom Building. This catalog contains explanations of the policies of the college and its education offerings for the 1968-69 school year. I trust that those who attend will take full advantage of their opportunities to improve their capabilities to enable them to live more successfully in our rapidly changing society. William P.
