Show Services of the College and closets. Students furnish blankets, bedspreads, towels, and other personal effects. Twenty meals per week are served in the cafeteria on the main floor of this building. The Sunday evening meal is omitted. Other facilities include living room, laundry rooms, recreation room, study rooms, and TV rooms. Applications, Procedures, and Policies—Interested students are invited to visit with or direct inquiries and requests for applications to the Director of Housing, Weber State College, Ogden, Utah. Upon request, an application and housing information brochure will be furnished. The application should then be completed and returned with a $25 deposit. This deposit will be refunded upon completion of the Annual Housing Occupancy Contract. Priority lists are based on date of receipt of application. Room assignments are normally made early in the summer. Acceptance of application and advance payment does not constitute admission to the College. Application for admission to the College is made at the Registrar's Office, Weber State College, Ogden, Utah. Students living in college operated residence halls agree by written contract to retain their accommodations for the academic year. Charges for college facilities are payable in advance. If payments are past due, the student will be restricted from board and room services. Pets, explosives, alcohol, and gambling are prohibited in college residence halls. Firearms and ammunition must be stored in the student housing weapons cabinets. Residential Housing—The Student Housing Office provides up-to-date listings of facilities available in the community. The student assumes responsibility with the householder in off- campus rentals. Charges for board and room range from $60 to $90 per month. Apartment and room only rates range from $50 to $85 per month, and $18 to $30 per month respectively. Summer Housing—The college residence halls are available to Summer School students. Reservations may be made for the full Summer Quarter or portions thereof. Both single students and families may be housed in the apartment residence halls. Community, business, professional, and fraternal organizations as well as the Federal Government grant scholarships to deserving Weber State College students. Sponsor Scholarships—Weber State College patron, alumni, school organization, and community group scholarships are open to qualified students. Stipends are for either partial or full educational expenses as determined by the individual scholarship grant. Prominent among the sponsors providing scholarship money are: Kiwanis International, Commercial Security Bank, First Security Foundation, Rotarians, American Business Women's Association, Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority, Janet Wade Peterson Trust, Ogden Eagles and Ogden Eagles Auxiliary, Florence Stuenenberg Endowment, Ogden Elks, Weber County Medical Association Auxiliary, Thomas D. Dee Memorial Hospital (nursing, X-Ray, medical technology), Parent-Teachers Associations, National Postal Transportation Association and Auxiliary, Ogden Soroptomist Club, Lydia Tanner Memorial Fund. Federal Scholarships—Under "Provision of the Economic Opportunity Act," Weber State College is authorized over $100,000 for the 1968-69 school year which is to be used as educational opportunity grants (E.O.G.'s). These grants are considered as scholarships and are given on a basis of need and other federal conditions. Students who show a need and who could not otherwise enter college or remain in college are eligible for these scholarships. Anyone who desires to apply for these scholarships should complete a College Scholarship Service (C.S.S.) form which may be obtained through the office of Financial Aid. Assistantships—Deserving and capable high school graduates are granted assistantships for stenographic or laboratory work in the college departments. These awards give financial assistance, excellent experience, and highly desirable professional contact with departmental faculty members. Selections are made by the faculty members concerned, the Scholarship Committee and the Placement Office. Loan Funds—The college maintains a student aid loan fund which is administered by the Student Aid Committee. Loan funds are available through the following: 1. Lydia Tanner Memorial Loan Fund, a fund established by private donor, the interest of which is used as a loan fund for worthy students. 69 |
