Show Continuing Education ACADEMIC INFORMATION Admissions Requirements How to Qualify—Continuing Education classes are available to persons who are 18 years of age or older (not attending high school), or who have graduated from high school, or have passed the high school level General Education Development test with scores specified by the College. In order to receive credit toward an academic degree, however, a student must qualify for admission according to the criteria outlined on page 51 of this catalog. Students on suspension from a college or university must apply for admission or re-admission, and be accepted, before college credit will be allowed. Academic Standards—In all cases where degree credit is granted academic standards of the Division of Continuing Education are the same as those of the Day School, and are outlined beginning on page 62. FEES, DEPOSITS AND REFUNDS Evening Classes—The charge for each Evening School class is published in the Evening School Schedule. Evening School students will be charged a lecture fee of 50 cents a quarter and a building fee of $3.00 a quarter regardless of the number of quarter hours for which they enroll. Off-Campus Classes—The charge for Off-Campus classes is normally one dollar higher per credit hour than the fee published in the Evening School schedule. Specialized classes are contracted according to costs incurred in setting up and operating the class. Late Registration—A late registration fee of $2.00 is assessed evening students beginning with the first day general college evening instruction begins for the quarter. Exceptions may be made when classes are added to the schedule and when new classes are scheduled for a later date. A late registration fee of $2.00 is assessed off-campus students beginning with the second class period. Refund Schedule—Full refunds are made only when a class is cancelled. Refunds made for the convenience of the student are made according to the following schedule: 334 Weeks in Attendance One week or less Second week Third week Over three weeks Continuing Education Amount Refundable 75 per cent 50 per cent 25 per cent No refunds allowed The 50 cent lecture fee is not refundable. Attendance—Registration and enrollment presupposes regular attendance at recitations, lecture, and laboratory sessions. A student who is irregular in his attendance may be dropped from class and given an E grade. Changes in Student Schedule—A student who wishes to make a change in his schedule of classes must do so before the end of the second week in a quarter. After a course has been in progress for two weeks, a student may not enroll in that course without special permission of the instructor and the Registrar. Withdrawal—To withdraw from a course, a student must fill out a withdrawal card obtained from the Registrar's office. Audit—Audit classes in Continuing Education are not permitted; however, a person may take a class without credit by filling out a non-credit card and paying the full fee. Counseling—Counseling service is available during evening school hours and the counseling service of the day school is available to the students of the evening school during the day. Appointments may be made through the Weber State College Counseling Office, telephone 399-5941, extension 264. Numbering of Classes—See page 89 of the catalog. THE SCHOOL OF ARTS, LETTERS AND SCIENCES The School of Arts, Letters, and Science offers many general courses in the Departments of Art, Botany, Chemistry, Communications, English and Literature, Foreign Languages, Geology and Geography, History, Mathematics, Microbiology and Public Health, Music, Nursing and Para-Medical Sciences, Physics and Engineering, Political Science and Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology and Anthropology, Theatre Arts, and Zoology. Many courses listed in the day section of the catalog will be taught in the Division of Continuing Education. In addition, the following courses may be offered: 335 |
