Show Tuition & Student Fees presence in this country, do not have the capacity to intend to reside in Utah for an indefinite period and therefore must be classified as nonresidents. Aliens who have been granted immigrant or permanent resident status in the United States must have, in their possession, a green card issued by immigration and shall be classified for purposes of resident status according to the same criteria applicable to citizens. 5. Any American Indian who is enrolled on the tribal rolls of a tribe whose reservation or trust lands lie partly or wholly within Utah or whose border is at any point contiguous with the border of Utah or any American Indian who is a member of a federally recognized or known Utah tribe and who has graduated from a high school in Utah, shall be entitled to resident status. 6. A determination by an institution of higher education under this section that a person is a resident shall be honored by other institutions unless the determination was obtained by false pretenses or the facts which existed at the time of the determination have materially changed. Applicants whose credentials indicate out-of-state status are classified as non-residents. All requests for resident classification must be filed with the Admissions Office. Senior Citizen Registration Utah residents age 62 and over are permitted to enroll, on a space available basis, at any of the state's public universities and colleges, on a tuition-free, audit basis. A ten dollar per quarter administrative fee will be charged to cover registration costs. Where applicable, senior citizens will be charged a fee for use of consummable materials. Withdrawal Withdrawal from Individual Classes: Students may withdraw from individual classes only during the first six weeks (or 60%) of the quarter. Withdrawal during the first three weeks must be made at the Registration Office. During the second three weeks a student must notify the instructor who will have the student sign the Withdrawal Role. Individual classes may not be dropped during the final four weeks (or 40%) of the quarter. No entry will appear on the transcripts of those students who drop individual classes during the first three weeks (or 30%) of the quarter (see "Changes in Registration"). A "W" (Withdrawal) will appear on the records of those students who withdraw from individual classes between the third week and the sixth week. Students who stop attending a class without officially withdrawing will receive a "UW" (Unofficial Withdrawal) for that class. The complete policy and procedure for making registration changes and the schedule of deadlines for making them are published each quarter in the class schedule. Withdrawal from School: Students are permitted to completely withdraw from school during any given quarter up to and including the last day of instruction prior to final exam week. Students withdrawing from school must obtain a Withdrawal from School form from the Registration Office and process it according to instructions. The notation "Registered and Withdrew" and the date will appear on the records of those students who completely withdraw from school after paying tuition and fees. TUITION AND STUDENT FEES Note: The institution reserves the right to place financial holds on Registration, Transcripts, and Graduation for any student owing the institution money or who has had a dishonored check. Tuition and student fees are established by the Utah State Board of Regents, and are subject to change without notice. Twelve credit hours per quarter constitute a full load for tuition purposes. Resident or non-resident students enrolled for twelve or more quarter hours will be assessed full tuition. Part-time resident or non-resident students (those enrolled for less than twelve credit hours) are assessed tuition on a per credit hour basis proportionate to the tuition paid by full-time students. Consult the quarterly class schedule for current tuition and fees. The Financial Aids section of this catalog has a table which a student may consult to determine approximate costs to attend Weber State College, including tuition and fees. Audit Classes Charges for auditing a class are at the same rate as regular credit classes and such hours will be counted as part of the student's total credit hour load. Continuing Education and Off-Campus Students enrolled in credit classes offered by Continuing Education are ordinarily assessed tuition on the same credit hour basis as provided in the regular tuition schedule shown in the quarterly class schedule. Laboratory Fees Students enrolled in certain classes must pay a laboratory fee in addition to regular tuition. These classes include: Tuition & Student Fees • General Information Audio Visual Bowling Cartography Ceramics Cinema Food Preparation Classes Jewelry Making Marksmanship Photography Military Science Oil Painting Printmaking Sculpture Skiing Weaving Late Registration Fee Students registering on or after the first day of classes are assessed a late registration fee. 22 Music Fees A fee will be charged to each student taking a private instruction class for credit. This fee must be paid at the time of registration. Non-Credit Courses and Workshops Charges for non-credit classes, workshops, etc., are established by the college and will be announced with the course offerings. Processing Fees There are several fees charged for processing students records or making transactions to them, they include: Application for Admission Graduation Fee Make-up Examination (each subject) Recording Fee for Special Cases (each transaction) Transcript of Credit (See Student Records) Refunds Tuition and student fees will be refunded according to the published refund policy found in each quarterly class schedule. Remediation Fees Students requiring remediation will be charged an additional fee at the time of registration. (See "Admissions" section.) Remote Student Teaching Fee Students requesting placement for student teaching out of the College service area are assessed a special fee for supervision. Rentals and Deposits Rentals and/or deposits are required on certain items and must be paid to the cashier. No refund on any deposit made during the school year will be made after June 30. Student Development Fee Students whose skills in English and math fall below predetermined levels are assessed a Student Development fee each quarter. They are exempt from the fee when they have reached English and Math proficiency and have completed at least 30 credit hours with a cumulative grade point average of 2.00 or better. (See Admissions: Freshmen Applicants.) Teaching Fee Education majors will be assessed an additional fee during the quarter in which they are registered for their student teaching experience. Test Fees Fees are charged for various tests administered on campus in accordance with a schedule to be approved each year. The fees may change from time to time during the year. Inquiries should be made at the Testing Center in the Stewart Library, Room 45. Dishonored Checks—A student whose check is dishonored by the bank shall be charged for handling and may be suspended from school until such time as the check is redeemed.
