Show Marriott-Slaterville City History January 2019 Marriott-Slaterville Monthly History January 2019 January continues to be cold with some snow in the valleys, but our mountains seem to be faring better with more snow. Mayor Van Leeuwen presented his annual State of the City address in the January P/onee/-Post. Six of our senior city residents were interviewed on Monday, January 14, 2019. Each was videotaped and recorded as they were asked questions about their life and living in MSG. They were; Ron Holmes, LaRae Brown, Myron Stevenson, Dolores Tippetts, Shirley Smout and Dean Slater. Planning Commission Meeting - January 15. 2019 A Public Hearing was held on amended commercial uses in the Commercial Zones within the City. No public comment was received so this was forwarded to the City Council for their approval. They then moved on to another Public Hearing regarding the Slaterville Commercial Subdivision consisting of eight (8) lots at located at 700 North 2000 W. This property is currently zoned C-2P (Commercial). Over the years developers have proposed various renditions of this Subdivision, which have been approved by the Planning Commission then expired for lack of development. This is the latest proposal and is reduced by four (4) lots from the prior approval. Again, no public comments were received and the Commission moved to approve the Commercial Subdivision Ordinance 2019-02 with several stipulations. The Commission granted conceptual approval for a Site Plan for Peterbilt at this same location, contingent on compliance with several requirements. Mr. Morris provided the annual training on the Open and Public Meetings Act, Ethics and Rules of Procedure, and Non-discrimination Policy. City Council Meeting - January 17. 2019 Council reappointed President Holley and Vice-president Ilium to continue serving in those same capacities by acclimation. Construction of Phase 5 at the Townhouse Estates was recently suspended by the City Council due to their Business License fees being outstanding for several years and other safety issues. Mr. Morris and Lt. Cortney Ryan presented a Sheriff's report on units 5 through 14 of Phase 5, demonstrating that the Sheriff calls have decreased and some of the troublesome residents have been evicted. Mr. Wheeler, owner of some of these units, has paid his outstanding Business License fees and met other requirements the City had, which it turn allows them to continue with development of additional units. Mr. Morris recommended that the Council approve Ordinance 2018-11 to allow continuation of construction. |
