In an out-of-the way neighborhood where Ogden and Marriott-Slaterville meet, residents and business people have been trapped by freight trains with no way out, sometimes for hours. Marriott-Slaterville Mayor Scott Van Leeuwen said the trouble spot has a reputation not just with the people who live inside that zone, but everybody gets affected. The biggest problem may be that one long Union Pacific train can block two crossings at once—the one on 1200 West in Marriott-Slaterville and the other in Ogden on 1?"^ Street west of Wall Avenue. Voters will be selecting new officials all across Weber County this year. Three seats are up for grabs on the Marriott-Slaterville City Council. The respective recumbent in the East District and West District, Dennis Ilium and Rob Smout, are the only hopefuls in their races. Two are running for the at-large seat; incumbent Dee Christofferson and Stacy Palen. |
