Central Weber Sewer Sewer that leaves your home or business flows to the Central Weber Sewer Improvement District Treatment Plant on Pioneer Road in Marriott-Siaterville. There is a vast network of sewer pipes managed by the City where you live or the District. You are responsible for the lateral line from your home or business to the City or District line. Typically, the smaller lines in our community are managed by the City while larger pipes, called trunk lines, and the treatment plant are managed by the District. There is a growing problem that our lines and infrastructure are reaching capacity, and the District is asking for your help to find a better, less expensive solution for our county. The sewer system is sized to handle sanitary sewer only, not storm water. Currently, a large amount of storm water is entering the sewer system causing sewerage backups. These backups into homes and businesses are unsanitary and damaging. Much of this is caused from rain gutters and sump pumps that are connected to the sewer system. This problem will overload the sewer system and be financially costly to repair the damage caused from sewage in your home or business. It can also affect everyone on a line that becomes backed up. One sump pump connected to the sewer can generate as much water as forty (40) homes producing just sewer. State law and local code prohibit the connection of any storm water into the sanitary sewer system, including sump pumps. Connecting a sump pump to sewer may be simple and inexpensive initially, but it is impractical for you and the community in the long run. If corrections are not made then sewer lines and facilities will need to he upgraded at tremendous cost to the taxpayers. The last major treatment plant expansion cost $150,000,000. Future upgrade costs would be paid by you in the form of increased rates and taxes. Consider the possibility of your monthly bill and annual sewer property taxes doubling. Let's prevent this from happening by disconnecting illegal storm water and sump pump connections to the sewer. If you have rain gutters or sump pumps to remove groundwater from your basement, observe where the discharge goes. See the figure below for information on proper connections. The City and District are committed to solve this problem. The City will not issue any fines to any residents or businesses requesting a sump pump inspection with an intention of correcting any problems found. However, for residents and businesses where the City or District independently finds an illegal connection a SI,000, per day, fine is assessed. oowrrtiwui ■Itatim mill* Hwar 9vwmp«Hii C™, arami aiso 1 ' HWtp C _ ■} "p grounii -- 0 p'rjunw. dTAinag# aSiuh trr Syirc- pi*«ip ima <:> F A Got Cotton Problems?
