Show Marriott-SIaterville City History November 2019 Ordinance 2019-08 approving the Brookside Subdivision on 200 S passed unanimously. Phase III of the Stanger Subdivision was approved by the majority of the Council. The opposing vote by Mr. Hodson was due to his concern about the possibility of future flooding. Staff addressed the regulations governing cannabis production establishments and medical cannabis pharmacies as now required by state law. Council approved Ordinance 2019-09 which regulates which zones Production Establishment or Medical Pharmacy is permitted in. Council approved an upgrade to our City website and redesign, with the flexibility to add additional options. They also approved a GIS/GPS infrastructure location system and the allotment of funds for various projects, including upgrades and replacement of several computers. Bits and Pieces Zackary Tanner Stanger was born to Elizabeth Langford and Jeremy Joseph Stanger on November 2, 2019. Lenore H. Brown Spencer, 98, passed away on November 1, 2019. Marriott-SIaterville City had a voter turnout of 50.8% during the recent election held on November 5^^. Incumbent Dee Christoffersen won over Stacy Palen for the at-large seat on the City Council, while incumbents Dennis Ilium - East District, and Rob Smout - West District were re-elected unopposed. The City Youth Council sponsored a Veteran's Day dinner at the City Offices on Veteran's Day, Monday, November 11^^. Veterans living in our City were recognized and honored for their sacrifice and service to our country. A short program was held and dinner was served. Plans are to make this an annual event. Two people were injured and a dog died after a structure fire was reported in Marriott- SIaterville on Tuesday morning, November 12^^. A fire started in an RV camper and later spread to two nearby buildings located at 1527 S 1100 W. The RV was a total loss and a nearby building had damage to the exterior and interior. Names of the new proposed city in western Weber County are starting to emerge and whether to move forward with the plans could be put to voters in the area next year. Seven possible names emerged at a November 4^^ meeting and more will be sought at next Monday's meeting, with online voting to follow next week to pinpoint a moniker, according to Duncan Murray, who has helped lead the process. A contingent of western Weber County residents have been pushing the question of incorporating since early this year, with proponents arguing such change would give locals more say in the area's development. The expansive zone west of Farr West, Plain City, Marriott-SIaterville and West Haven — now governed by Weber County Commissioners — has been the site of rapid residential growth, altering the traditionally rural |
