Show Marriott-Slaterville City History May 2019 Resolution 2019-F adopting the annual Municipal Wastewater Planning Report was passed, and budgets for FY 2018-19 and FY 2019-20 were discussed. Assignments for the 4'^ of July celebration were discussed; Mr. Meyerhoffer informed the Council that the secondary water system is operating; bids will be accepted until May 30, 2019 for the upcoming 1200 W project; and the bridges on 200 S and 700 S will both be resurfaced and potholes patched on the bridge decks. Mr. Hodson and Mr. Morris met with the Weber County School District regarding the boundary issue with IFA and said the District is working on obtaining a boundary adjustment with Ogden City on 12^*^ Street. Bits and Pieces In honor of the upcoming sesquicentennial of the meeting of the east and west rail lines at Promontory Summit, secondary students at Venture Academy built a scale model of the transcontinental railroad—using model trains and tracks-—as part of a two-week, all-day course called an "intensive." The event will be celebrated on May 10^^. 2019 is an election year and Marriott-Slaterville City will have three district seats up for grabs. The primary will serve to narrow the number of hopefuls in each race to two: the at-large spot now held by Dee Christofferson, the East District post now held by Dennis Ilium and the West District spot now held by Rob Smout. A team of investors, including a developer behind a park City film studio, is pursuing creation of a studio, film school and rodeo arena on a 90-acre parcel in western Weber County. The ambitious plans are still preliminary, but those involved envision it as a place for moviemakers, visitors wanting to soak in the Hollywood atmosphere, and students interested in pursuing film careers. Neighboring West Haven City leads Weber County in growth by a wide margin. It was also the third fastest growing locale statewide among Utah's 247 incorporated places in the period covered from July 1, 2017 to July 1, 2018. Among the estimates for Weber County's 15 towns and cities, showing the population change from 2017 to 2018, Marriott-Slaterville is up 3.5%, from 1,785 to 1,847, an increase of 62. The cities with the highest rates of growth-—West Haven, Plain City, Pleasant View, Marriott- Slaterville, Hooper, Farr West, North Ogden and Harrisville—sit on the western and northern edges of the county's population center. On the flip side, those with the lowest growth—Roy, Washington Terrace, Ogden, Riverdale, South Ogden and Uintah—are more hemmed in, either by other cities or the mountains of the Wasatch Front. |
