Wahlen Veterans Tribute Run and Chili Cook-Off will be held on Saturday, October 12th. The event is co-sponsored by the George E. Wahlen Veterans Home and the First United Methodist Church to support the veterans residing at the Veterans Home. There is a 5K and lOK run, and a 1.5 mile walk which all start at the Veterans Home located at 1102 North 1200 West at 10:00 AM, and end at the First United Methodist Church in Marriott-Slaterville. The chili cook-off begins at 10:30 AM. Awards will be presented. To register visit: www.fumcogdenut.org. For questions please call 801-393-5662. 2019 Fall Clean-up Fall Clean-up is scheduled for October 19th and 20th. Dumpsters will be located at Marriott Park and at Slaterville Park. Please put all garbage completely inside the dumpster, not on the ground. This is a complimentary service, so please be considerate of others using the dumpster. No tires or hazardous materials. Meet the Candidates Night This year is an election for our community's City Council. The "at-large seat" is contested with Dee Christoffersen and Stacy Palen as candidates. Meet the Candidates Night will be held on October 24, 2019, at 6:30 PM at the City Building located at 1570 West 400 North. Halloween Trunk-or-Treat This event is at the Slaterville Park (250 N 2250 W) on Thursday, October 31®'. Come circle the wagons together around the haunted grounds. Bring bags of candy to share with your neighbors. Set-up at 4:30 PM. Treats start at 6:00 PM. Entry is free! Enjoy a hot dog, chips, cookie, and hot chocolate for $3. Vote by Mail - Municipal Election Registered voters in Marriott-Slaterville City will soon receive a ballot in the mail. Your ballot should arrive two (2) weeks before the Election Day on Tuesday, November 5. Ballots may be returned by mail, dropped at the drop box at Marriott-Slaterville City, or at any Weber County Library. I voted stickers will be included with your ballot. Early voting will be held at the Weber County Election Office, 2380 Washington Boulevard, starting Wednesday, October 30. County election centers open on Election Day, for questions call 801-399-8400. Holiday Boutique The annual Holiday Boutique is November 16th. For those who love crafts and unique handmade gifts here is your chance to show it off and sell your wares. If you like to browse boutiques for local gifts come enjoy. The boutique is at the Marriott-Slaterville City Building, 1570 West 400 North from 10:00 AM until 5:30 PM. Admission and vendor spaces are free. Please bring your own tables and decor. Inside space is 4'x8' for each vendor, and all materials must be freestanding. Set-up is Friday from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM, or Saturday morning from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. If you have a property tax question, contact Weber County at 801-399-8400. • Parks Closing. City Parks will be closed to reservations and winterized on October 15th. • Irrigation Closed. The pressurized secondary water system will be shut-down and winterized in early October. • 2-1-1 Get Answers. Dial 2-1-1 for community services and information. The service is 24 hours.
