Show Marriott-Slaterville City History July 2019 Marriott-Slaterville Monthly History July 2019 Once we hit July it didn't take long for the weather to turn hot and dry, which is typical for this time of year. Sewer that leaves resident's homes or businesses flows to the Central Weber Sewer Improvement District Treatment Plant located on Pioneer Road in Marriott-Slaterville City. There is a vast network of sewer pipes managed by the City, but residents are responsible for the lateral line from their home or business to the City or District line. There is a growing problem that our lines and infrastructure are reaching capacity. The sewer system is sized to handle sanitary sewer only, not storm water. Currently, a large amount of storm water is entering the sewer system, causing sewerage backups because rain gutters and sump pumps have illegally been connected to the sewer system. State law and local code prohibit the connection of any storm water into the sanitary sewer system, including sump pumps. Residents and businesses are encouraged to correct these issues if it applies to them. The City will not issue any fines to any residents or businesses requesting a sump pump inspection with the intention of correcting any problems found. However, if the City or Sewer District independently finds an illegal connection a $1,000 per day fine will be assessed.
