Our local government in Marriott- Slaterville City is stable and enduring. As I complete my first year in office, I commit to continue our legacy of no debt and municipal property taxes. For over 20 years we have prospered and will continue with the leadership of this administration. Our City Council is top notch and well prepared to handle the challenges we encounter. The City has a lot to do in this new year. First, the Planning Commission is preparing an updated General Plan. Many residents have commented in the planning process about how well the existing plan has served our community and would like that to continue. Growth management and supporting our designation as Utah's Open Space City will continue under my administration. Next, this year we will also start a new community branding campaign for agri-commerce in the community. There are so many new agriculture trends that support Farm-to Market and Farm-to-Table and Marriott- Slaterville City is able to engage these markets. The City Council recently approved our new City Logo to help with this marketing. Lastly, there are plenty of improvements to make on our roads, trails, parks, and infrastructure. I have found that Marriott-Slaterville City has an incredible professional staff and numerous volunteers. They all work together and work hard for our community from our events to our projects. Our staff has raised millions in grants for reconstruction projects. One project is at the end of Pioneer Road which will prevent the road from flooding again, make it wider, and safer. This year 1200 West at the north end of the City will also be reconstructed. These two major road projects will be challenging for staff, yet I expect they will be completed with excellence. Traffic loads on 1200 West continue to increase so the reconstructed road will help residents be safer by providing a turning lane and replace the failing subgrade and sewer.
