Peoples of Democracies Must Put Trust in Leaders To peoples of democracies engaged in war it is difficult to sit back quietly like automatons of totalitarian regimes and listen to reports of distant battles without wanting to do something about it. They want to have a voice in the direction of military movement, no matter how little they know about the problems involved. For this reason many Americans are straining at the bit and asking what is the navy doing? The answer is, that we must trust the leaders and respect the need for the secrecy with which they cloak. Tis the Week After Christmas Tis the week after Christmas, And all through the place, Not a person is smiling, Not even one face. All the shoulders are drooping With worry and care, And the fear that collectors Are soon to be there. Every night theyll awaken In warm, cozy beds, While visions of payments Will dance in their heads. There was one dollar down On the flashlight for Dad, And the one on Moms dishes, That didnt sound bad. Then a watch for the girl friend, A contract to say, Just a small weekly payment, And one year to pay. Now that robe for Aunt Mary Cost just a wee bit, But therell soon come a note Saying, Kindly remit. So theyll take pen and paper, Theyll mutter and shriek, When they find they cant make it, On thirty a week.
