Plants Seek Mechanics For Training Aircraft Needs Get Attention At Ogden MeetTribune Intermountain Wire OGDEN AIR DEPOT, Hill Field Plans for cooperative expansion in training student mechanics for assignment in aircraft mechanical work depots and subdepots in the Ogden and Spokane, Wash., control area are under intensive study at Ogden air depot at Hill field. Urgent need for large numbers of students at the various depots in the control area has brought immediate efforts to initiate programs in schools of Colorado, Idaho, Oregon and Washington, announces Colonel Morris Berman, commanding officer of Ogden air depot. With such a program already functioning in Utah at four schools under the cooperative direction of the state department of education and the air forces located at Ogden air depot and Salt Lake airdrome lease, it is now desired that similar programs be started in the states named. Will Speed Programs Should the state departments of education accept the call to sponsor mechanical programs in vocational schools of their states, such programs will be set up as soon as they can be arranged, and hundreds of additional men and women will be trained for specialized aircraft work.
