Stuart Gordon of Hartford who is with the forces somewhere in the West Indies, writes he has been named a corporal and in his letter says he is enjoying the army experience immensely, albeit now and then, naturally enough, hankering for a sight of his native Hartford...Corporal Gordon was employed at the New England bus terminal at the time of his entering the army...he is the son of Mrs. Rose Gordon of 34 Lilley Rd., West Hartford, and the fiance of Miss Estelle Korber of 152 Preston St....a brother, Dick Gordon, is with the army in the Canal Zone...Corporal Gordon writes of the soldiers hesitancy over saying just what they would like to say to their girls back home because of knowing the censor reads all letters and he encloses this verse, written by one of has fellow soldiers on that subject: TO THE CENSORS Ive got a gal so far away And she is fair and pale But how can I send my love to her When censors read the mail? This gal is oh, so very sweet And I love her willy nilly But how can I tell her of my love When in print it looks so silly? I hate the thought of those tender words Being read by a trangers eyes My soul writes these for her alone These lies and alibis.
