Morning, June 16 1940. Sunday in June as fathers day. Whether the old man has reached a point where he actually enjoys the attention and excitement incident to his particular date has not yet been determined. The consensus of opinion is that he likes it, but hesitates about admitting it. From ancient times, until the last half century, the father occupied a prominent place in all records of the human race. This may have been partly due to the fact that he wrote and compiled them. According to the Scriptures, David compared the love of God to the love of a father, while the prayers of Christians through countless trials and tribulations have been addressed to Our Father in Heaven. In almost every book of the Bible one finds that fathers were glorified in the good old days. They were the heroes of every episode, the leaders of every tribe, the patriarchs of every sect. But that was a long time ago in an age the like of which may never come again. Let father have his say today the one day when he should be allowed to assert his fatherhood.
