COUNSELING CENTER Counseling—The following services are coordinated through the Weber State College Counseling Center: (1) counseling with vocational, educational, and personal problems; (2) testing; (3) occupational information. The objective of the Counseling Center is to assist students in making intelligent decisions regarding their vocational, academic, and personal needs on a short-term basis (about one quarter). The Weber State College Counseling Center does not provide long-term intensive psychotherapy. All counselors in the Counseling Center are professionally trained in educational and counseling psychology which enables them to deal with a wide range of vocational, educational, and personal problems. Any student who desires assistance may visit with a counselor prior to his first registration to help him in the choice of a major and in making other educational plans. Call the Counseling Center for an appointment. Testing—Each Freshman is required to take the American College Test prior to registration. The ACT measures the areas of English, mathematics, natural science, and social studies, and is used for placement in beginning courses. 63 |
